Motherboard Problem

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this....

I recently bought an ASUS M2NPV - VM motherboard combo with an Athlon x2 3800+ and when I try to install the audio drivers (onboard sound) it tells me its the wrong hardware for the driver or something like that.

I even reformatted and installed windows all over again and still it won't work.

I have also tried calling ASUS and they have said that i needed to update windows and I've done that also.

I even installed ubuntu to see if windows was the problem and it still won't play audio files.

I can get videos to show but there is no sound, and when I try to play an MP3 it just says on audio device detected please install audio drivers...

It does this on both windows xp pro and windows xp pro 64

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance

UPDATE:
Anyone who has this problem

If you do like the guy in the post says and disable plug and play OS and then also make sure HD audio is enabled it installs by itself even without the CD

Thanks for the link 🙂
