Why don't they include backplanes with motherboards that have a slew of extra ports on the back? I just purchased an nForce motherboard from MSI, and I'll be damned if I have a backplane which accomodates not only the audio ports but also the LAN port, which is hardly something always present on boards. I had one awhile ago that had onboard SCSI -- didn't use a backplane for that one!

BTW, does anyone know where I can find one with a LAN port space? 🙂
 
Can't really help you out, but my bro got the same mobo once without a battery for the CMOS! I know that other mobo manufacturers usually include backplanes, check the manual or box to see the enclosed items list to see if you were supposed to get one.
 
I've never gotten a motherboard that did not come with a back plane..ECS and MSI here.

Probably have to ask your mobo manufacturer where to get one
 
Geez, I've bought three mobos from MSI recently, and I have yet to see a backplane from them. :| I'm being cheated -- I'll check the box again anyway.
