I was looking at putting together a newer system, came across some i think good deals. like the biostar tb250-btc pro. can be had for $20 to $30 range. besides the size of the board, and all the extra pci-e 1x slots, would it make for a decent cheap mid range gaming system (not overclocked)?

I would think so, but be sure to check CPU support just in case. Could even put a 7700k in there if it supports it, though most people just used celerons. Only thing is Biostar has meh bios, and of course you will not be able to OC at all with the B250 chipset, which I believe includes increasing RAM speed for XMP.

Just pony up the extra 30$ aND get a real board! maybe even one reviewed anandtech. z390 for 130 9400t for 150 would be a good box with 8gb / 35$ worth of ram.. Im fighting with myself not to build a intel, figure might as well wait at this point to see this mythical rzyen chip (which i bet wont match intel in gaming still) sadly i also do h265 encoding and ryzen falls behind with this too.. /crossing fingers with this 2700x/x470 combo i built tho it does everything fine and dont play much games below 1440p
