Motherboard issue or PSU issue?

I'm trying to rule out which is which. I have a SiS 661FX-M7 Motherboard LGa775 socket. Problem

1. Almost everytime I load windows my mouse is not working while the keyboard is only working and the USB ports are also not working. The only time the computer fully works is when I reset CMOS.

I ordered a new case from Newegg that came with the generic.. and a new PSU is on the way. for now I'm using a generic.

Specs
P4 3.0 775 socket
Radeon 9600XT
160 GB Hitachi HD
Creative DVD Rom
512 MB of RAM Rosewill

So which one is the problem?

Damn, why is it when their telephone quits working that they go and blame the PSU? Every time i am on this forum so one is blaming their PSU on somthing, Like poor frame rates or bad sound from their speakers.

This to me sounds like a driver issue.

i have the latest BIOS and latest video drivers what else? AGP drivers also for MB

most of time boot time also slow....what other drivers well latest BIOS, video drivers, AGP drivers for the motherboard what else? everytime i want to use the computer fully.........i have to reset CMOS......

First thing I would try is a new BIOS battery.

I know, I know, the mobo is new so why should it need a new battery.
Just try it, then come back and tell us it didn't work

nope that didn't fix it......the only way the mouse would work again is resetting CMOS but after one reboot or one shutdown the mouse wouldn't work anymore.....I'm leaning into faulty mobo?

9 out of every 10 Computer problems are software related, but when 9 out of every 10 users troubleshoot their systems the often overlook software and blame the hardware. Prehaps it's a BIOS Problem or Windows Mouse Driver ISSUE? Have you Tried Updating the BIOS and Using a USB to PS/2 adapter? I don't know what chipset you are using but go and download ALL (everyone of them) of the latest drivers for that chipset streight off of the manufacurers website.

Excellant Point! Most PC's Made since the Rollout of ATX use a CR2032 Button Cell.


Also Try Using a mouse adapter that converts USB to PS/2. Those have solved a lot of my mouse compatabilty issues in the past, plus you will get better mouse performance with PS/2 instead of USB.

It could a problem with Microsoft Windows It's self, if all else fails try reinstalling Windows

Maybe you're having issues with the latest bios. You could try flashing back to an older bios.
