Motherboard for P4

I have the same mobo with a 1.5Ghz. I've had it for about a month now and no problems whatsoever. Even have it overclocked to 1.8Ghz and runs fine. Although I'm not sure if it will support a straight 1.7Ghz chip. According to their site the P4T is good for a 1.4~1.5Ghz processor. Otherwise the board is great IMO.

Enjoy!

Andy, what's the P4T-F? Upgrade for the new socket? I couldn't find it at Asus's page.

P4 boards! Hmmmmm.........theres not many of them! I wonder why? I think you should hold off they are going to socket 478.

Look at some quality socket 462 boards if you need to buy a good board. There are ample socket A boards out. The SIS 735 chipset is going to be in several new boards in the coming months. There is going to be Dual athlon board from MSI and I believe Gigabyte also. As well as a couple boards with intergrated SCSI!

Unfortunately, a P4-1.7ghz will not fit in a SocketA board. But I'm sure that Billy appreciates your very helpful suggestion. 😉

P4T-F I belive is the 4-layer version of P4T so it's cheaper, otherwise it's the same, you can easily idenfiy it because it should have 1 RIMM slot that is placed next to the other 3 on the side so it's a wierd looking board, but cheaper. Cool, looks like Intel has quitely released an 845 and 850 Socket 478 solutions. Yeah, I have to agree, if possible wait for Socket 478, that way u can go to Northwood later. Other than the Intel 850 S478 board, theres only 1 other 850 S478 board that I've heard of, and that's Abit's TH7II-RAID, FS reviewed it 2 days ago here. It's a lot more than just a S478 TH7, it has much better ocing features for one and a bunch of other stuff.

The P4T-F has each pair of RIMMs perpendicular. Not a group of 3+1 like the MSI model.

<< why get a P4 when you could get an athlon? >>

Jezus f*cking Christ when are you AMD Zealots gonna stop?. Did he say AMD was an option for him? No he didn't so you should go and Meltdown some Athlon's.

I hate when people do that, somebody says comething very specific towards an intel system and somebody has to chime in about an Athlon...it gets old.
