Motherboard failed but I want to recover HD data. How?

My mobo failed and I want to recover the data on the HD and transfer it to my new computer. I know I can install the old HD into the new PC but if there's another, quicker, way to go about it I'd rather take that route.

Any ideas?

You can hook up the drive to one of the several SATA/IDE-to-USB adapter cables listed on this page. Then connect the USB output to a working PC and copy the files needed.

You could do that, but with a USB2.0 connection, the theoretical max is 60MB/sec transfer rate (practical it is usually around 50MB/sec). Most modern hard drives are capable of 70 or 80 MB/sec, and the real fast ones (like the Velociraptor) can be in the 90's.

But for ease of use, it can be handly for the USB.
