Hello I have a ECS 945GCT-M/1333 (V3.0) motherboard and I just recently got a ati his 5770 1gb graphics card and the motherboard doesn't seem to power the gpu on. It's not getting enough juice and it won't boot into the bios :( My power supply is 500 watts and it runs an ati 4850 1gb just fine, and it boots perfectly. I know the power supply isn't the problem, because I have the same power supply and it powered the 5770 on a different computer. Anyone knows why there isn't enough power going towards the 5770? Do you think I should get a new motherboard?

Here is the problem; the 5770 turns on and the fans are spinning, but it turns off after 5 seconds and turns back on. It repeats. It seems that it doesn't want to boot into the bios

did you use the connectors from the PSU and plug the 6 pin connector into the video card

Have you plugged in the 6-pin power connector for the card from the PSU? Not sure if your 5770 has one, but it would be my first guess. If your PSU doesn't have a 6 pin connector you will have to upgrade.

What is the make and model number of the PSU? Does it have a 6 pin connector to power the GPU? The his 5770 has a female power connector on the end just waiting for you to plug in the juice!

Yea I did plug it in lol, my ati 4850 requires a 6 pin connector. I will try my OCZ 600 watt psu. and yes my psu does have a 6 pin connector. I will let you guys know how it works :) My psu is the Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus Series 500W (RS500-PCARD3-US).

You said your PSU powered the same setup in another PC fine so why even bother? There is no way that setup is maxing out that PSU unless it is not delivering the amount of power it should be.

Are you sure the card is fully inserted into the PCI-E slot properly? Have you tried the GPU in another PC to check it isn't faulty?

Yea I shouldn't even bother ahhaa, I used my 600 watt power supply today and it didn't work. My 600 watt power supply ran a gtx 570, no problems. Let me get this straight though. The 5770 turns on and the fans are spinning, but it turns off after 5 seconds and turns back on. It repeats. Unfortunately, the card doesn't want to boot into the bios. What gives?

I inserted my 4850 many times already and it didn't give me any problems. Same with the 5770, I tried re-inserting it many times and it didn't work.

The gpu isn't faulty. I tried it on another computer that only has a 400 watt power supply, and it booted into the bios and played starcraft 2 with no problems whatsoever.

I have another 5770 and tried it on the same mobo and same problem happened. What the heck!

Unplug PSU, remove CMOS, hold case power button for 1 minute, re-insert cmos, plug PSU back in. Try again. Let me know what happens.

Yea, I tried it right now and that didn't work also. The problem still persists :( it won't boot into bios.

Wow, so to be clear you are stating that

a) The 5770 works in another system
b) The motherboard slot works with another video card

Have you tried connecting your motherboard integrated graphics VGA connector to a monitor while trying to boot with the 5770 in there? Ideally you'd want to have two monitors to help troubleshoot this.

Your pciE slot appears to be ver 1.0, which is older than the version of the 5770. I've read horror stories of ver 1 cards and ver 2 slots not playing well together, and vice versa. Could that be happening here?

Have you tried another card that pulls equal or less power in that slot? Based on what you have told us, I think it's something with the board.

If he is saying it runs a 4850 fine under gaming conditions I find it unlikely that he isn't supplying enough power to a 5770 to even boot.

Yes, it is unlikely, but this situation sounds near impossible based on the testing he has listed.

That's what I was thinking, the pciE slot is version 1.0 and it is really older than the 5770. I think this is the problem D:
