Hey all. I just wanted to know if when you people start purchasing / exchanging for the Venice what motherboard you will be getting?

I'm planning on getting the Venice 3000+ and doing some overclocking hopefully to up around 2.4-2.6ghz stable. Can you recommend a good motherboard?

I'm thinking:

Chaintech VNF4 NForce4 Ultra 939 - $97
Abit AV8 K8T800 Pro VIA K8T800 939 - $116
Soltek SL-K890Pro 939 VIA K8T890 - $122
DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra-D NForce4 939 - $138
MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum NForce4 939 - $142

So... which are you going with or which would you recommend? I plan on running some Corsair VS 1gb 3200 and an XClio 450w powersupply, MSI GeForce 6600GT 128mb

Yeah punk! hehe...

Like Waylay00 said... it's the new revision. Suppose to have an extra couple goodies on it, run cooler, potentially a better overclocker then the Winchester's... we'll see though. There's a review and an overclock thread on xtremesystems where stephen got a 3800+ venice to clock to 3.4ghz... not stable though. Stable was around 3.2ghz, and on air was around 2.8-2.9ghz. The max on air with stock HSF was only about 38c too.... ;)

You should definately go with PCI-Express, so replace the ABIT AV8 on your list for the AX8 ($119).

The MSI K8N Neo4 has overclocking problems with some processors, even based on the same core. Some people have problems getting past 219MHz with a Winchester, replace with another one and it does great. I wouldn't recommend this board yet but probably a BIOS update will fix everything.

The Chaintech has problems with some voltages for the Vcore that would make it a no-go for me.

If you can afford the DFI it will probably not let you down. If you want something a little cheaper the AX8 seems to be a good board.

Yea dfi should be your best bet. I hear problems, but they go away in bios :)

Make real sure you update to the latest bios before you boot up that new Venice or you're gonna have some problems.....there's threads over at Xtreme Systems and other places which have people trying the Venice cores and expiereinced problems until DFI released a new bios just recently....

Actually, I'm running the A8N-E and built two other systems around this board for friends. The board is great! Easy setup, stable from the get go and overclocking is a breeze. I also have the DFI for my SLI setup and to be honest, when not running SLI, benchmarks are nearly equal and overclocking also equal. Very happy with these boards!:)
