I sure hope you get this mobo back to them. It could be a faulty componant that could cause a fire in a home if not isolated soon. I would think this is an isolated case, but so did the first SUV rollover with Firestone tires.:(

The CPU is now defunct and is labeled as "Do Not Test: Fire Victim".

jonnyGURU,

No Offense but I notice in alot of your post its 99% the Customers fault? I have a poll for you. Lets say out of 100 RMA's returned how many would you say is actually a true hardware problem or defect and NOT the customers fault or doing? Im just curious to know. :)

BTW..Im glad your OK!!

BuckMaster: Of what I get back, 60% of it is fine and user error is involved.

Of the other 40%, 50% of those are Abits..... JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!

BTW: Only .01% catch fire.

;)

Seriously; 60% is good, 40% is bad. That ratio is pretty consistant.

We used to have the "Golden Fire Extinguisher" award at work for the employee who had the most embarrassing incident like that. You had to hang your burnt part on the wall so that everyone else could see/ask about it. When the next person had a fire, the award passed to him.

Jonny gets the extinguisher now!

jonny,

We'll have see if we can get Abit to send you their one of their yet-unannounced FireStarter7 DDR boards. Or even better the FireStarter7-RAID with a Highpoint chip. I think both boards support the 150W-200W Athlons. For maximum RMA entertainment value, perhaps they can be slipped into your shipments surreptitiously :)

What if your burnt part was your, uh, part? That would be an embarrasing moment, but how would you hang it up?

Heck no! ;)

That board could've shot flames on anybody. It's going back to Biostar.

As for the CPU, I don't know. I'm sure AMD will take it back. There's no "physical" damage to it, so I don't know why not.
