I am looking at cpu/mobo bundles on mwave.com and the one Im looking at is $6 more if you get the bundle than if you get the cpu and mobo seperatly. Is there a reason for this? Is the chip already in the mobo if you get the bundle? If that is the case then $6 is a small price to pay.
thanks,

Damn! $6 is reasonable to install a CPU???
I'll do it for you for $5 ;)

I seriously doubt the CPU ships pre-installed....I would expect it to be packaged separately for safer shipping.

I don't know why it would be more for the combo...

No, it'll come preinstalled. The barebones system I bought from them last month was cheaper that the compents combined, and had everything fully installed.:)

I have noticed the same thing from time to time at mwave most of the time it is an error they drop the price on the MB or CPU but forget to change the price in the combo. I would suggest you wait a day or two and check again.

Ive been watching it for about 5 days now. Talking my mom into giving me the credit card to get the chip and mobo. But if what Virge said and they put the chip in for me $6 is fine with me...one less thing to worry about. Thanks for the rapid responses.

Isn't a Barebones system is different than a CPU and motherboard though?

Don't barebones come with the motherboard installed in the case.
And RAM installed and stuff?

If it's a duron, or even tbird, i would pay $6 to have the chip and heatsink preinstalled. Heatsinks for these chips are sometimes a b!tch. If they crack the processor, then they have to replace it. If you crack it, you have to shell out another 60 bones or whatever your duron costs. I have never cracked one personally but i can see how it could happen, i am more worried about knocking off some capacitors that are near the socket.

Received an AMD mobo bundle from Mwave about two weeks ago, and nothing was assembled, nor had I expected it to be. It included a generic HSF, the sink looks good, similar to a Taisol, but the fan isn't really up to snuff.

With mine, I saved a few bucks over separate mobo, cpu and memory- the HSF was like a gift.

I suspect that you have hit an update glitch on their site, contact them, I'm sure they will explain.

They probably haven't updated the Athlon (Socket A) Motherboard Bundles section yet, because the CPU prices dropped on their site today. (Socket A)

I also got a bundle from them and it was not assembled. BTW, did you account for the price of the CPU cooler?

It does not come assembled in the combo package. I ordered 2 combos this month and neither one was assembled. Everything comes seperatly packaged in one box.
