Ok so i got my RMA'd asus A7V333 back brand new... and its the same exact motherboard. Windows XP will not load... put in new memory ran memtest clean, new CPU, swapped out harddrive tried now one, windows xp wont format it hangs, linux red hat will take over 20 min to format 10% of a 300mb partition...

Could it be that the IDE controller is borked?

3 Asus boards that have been lemon's never again!

I had the same problem once with an Asus board. I got an RMA board back within a couple of weeks and it had the same problem as the original.

I seriously think that some of these companies simply re-pack the product you send them and send it back to you without even looking at it.

bockchow yes we tried that.

Now this is the kicker, we ran from the secondary master so we bypassed the primary IDE controller and VOILA! everything formatted and worked fine, so the primary ide controller is messed up on the motherboard... i sent it out to rma today AGAIN!
