Interesting, can't blame them for wanting to protect themselves.

The number of black Americans who own guns appears to be on the rise. According to a 2014 Pew survey, 19 percent of black adults said they owned a gun, up from 15 percent in 2013. In another 2014 survey, 54 percent of black adults said they believed owning a gun makes people safer. Two years earlier, only 29 percent said so

Should we now expect the NRA and by extension the Republicans to come out now in favor of gun control?

Interesting indeed.

There's quite a few blacks that belong to the NRA.

Do you ever get tired of spinning things? I'd be dizzy as hell were I you.

I asked a simple question based on the history of the NRA.

I'm sorry if you feel I interrupted what you hoped to be a gun nut circle jerk but if you only want responses from like minded individuals then perhaps you should start your own forum.

I think the open carry thing is stupid as hell and does more damage than it's advocates realize.

ivwshane, the NRA doesn't release their demographics, so we can't prove anything.

i agree that open carry is stupid - and the reason for that isn't because it's really dangerous, it's because of the perception. it's so rare that it's bizarre, and people get scared.

it'd be like someone walking around in a neon pink suit - it would grab your attention and you'd go "wtf that's not normal"

While true it's also moot. You don't get to restrict the legitimate rights of others simply because they're idiots about how they exercise them or if they do so in a calculated way simply to be transgressive just to get a rise out of others. If that were the case then lots of people would need to have their mouths duct taped shut to prevent them from exercising their 1st Amendment rights.

The only positive thing it does is if your CC weapon is seen accidentally, you don't get in trouble, but the folks carrying AR's or large pistols are really bad public images.

That's because you have something between your outer ears. If you too were blessed with a vacuum there, then you could spin everything just like Shane.

How do they count the number of firearms by gang members??? I wouldn't think they would respond to this type of survey....

Personally speaking I am fine with more non-caucasians owning firearms.

Hopefully BLM gets some sense and arms themselves as well...

Not sure what city you live in but black people are plenty armed here, and killing each other. Black lives only seem to matter when white folks and cops are doing the killing.

When more people think owning a gun makes them safer, that should be a warning sign of the increasing suspicion we have toward one another.

Yeah, how could anyone possibly get any sort of handle on their demographics? :hmm:

In other news, here are pics from their 2016 annual meetings:

Good. The 2nd amendment covers all Americans. I wouldn't be surprised to see gun ownership increase among the LGBT community too.

Not surprisingly a lot of white people are killing white people. A lot of killers murder someone they know. So it follows that more people are killed by a member of their "race". A white person is more likely to be killed by a white person, a hispanic person is more likely to be killed by a hispanic person, etc. etc.

When a member of one race kills a member another race it is likely to gather more attention. In the case of BLM it gets attention because it seems to be the rare occasion when a white police officer is put on trial for an encounter where a black person seems to be killed unnecessarily.

Maybe we can blame the media for it's coverage skewing that perception.

However, you didn't address my other point.... which is that more non-whites legally owning firearms is a good thing.

Why are we talking about the NRA?

Did I miss something? Could have sworn the subject was blacks buying guns.

More black buying guns increases the chances the NRA will become more integrated.

True but also misleading. Per capita rate is the better measure than net totals and blacks are killed and kill at per capita rates vastly higher than other races. They also are involved in committing interracial homicides at much higher rates than other races.

No argument on the statement that increased lawful firearm ownership by non-whites is a good thing.

Yes, you missed something, like the NRA being directly involved in gun ownership to begin with. Is their purpose for existing, but your just being obtuse intentionally on that one.

And before you go off on a tangent of there are other things they are involved in, they all relate to ownership to begin with.

You were the one that said a lot of blacks belong to the NRA to begin with, wonder why the pics were posted ...

Ok, so the NRA is a white racist orginazation.

Doesn't change the fact that more blacks are buying guns.
