I have been staying out of here on purpose because I have spent way too much on cell phones lately. If I don't know about the new stuff, I won't want to buy it.

My "final" mission was to trade my Vibrant for an iPod Touch and an HD2. That gave me Windows Mobile, iOS and Android to play with. It was great except the battery life and reception on the HD2 sucked terribly when on Android. I spent a solid 2 weeks trying different radios and combinations of Windows and Android ROMs.

Today I saw a Vibrant on Craigslist for $250. That's a very fair price, so I am picking that up tomorrow. Lil rudeguy really wanted an iPod, so I found someone willing to trade me my HD2 for a 3gs. He should be very happy since his myTouch has been flaking out.

So yeah...

Lol. Your love/hate relationship with Vibrant. :). Try Nero 3 beta rom from TW with Eugene's Super_IO_ kernal. It's really fast and smooth. Almost 1200 quadrant with no lagfix. It's first time I'm not tempted to run lagfix. I don't feel the need. Batterylife is excellent as well since the superIO kernal is leaked stock Vibrant kernal.

I've already downloaded it and have it ready to go on my SD :)

And I really do have a love/hate thing with the Vibrant. It does just enough to be a good phone but has enough quirks that I always want to upgrade.

why don't u go for the nexus s, seems like all the vibrant problems will be solved out of the box, less the SD slot but led flash and 2.3 to boot.

Because it's easy buying a 250 phone. Nobody's gonna sell a Nexus S for that price anytime soon.

I just got back from the t-mobile store myself. My gf bought a Vibrant w/o contract. We did some basic math, and even though the upfront costs barely offset the subsidized costs, she liked the freedom of leaving anytime she wants. She heard my story about VZW, where the signal is awesome in socal, except for my house.
I had a look around with the G2, the Vibrant and the MyTouch 4G, and I liked the G2 and the Vibrant the best.
They came a long way from my droid. I loaded a bunch of apps and widgets, watched movies and streamed music, couldn't get either of them to hiccup after spending 25-30 minutes each with them.
If I sneeze, my Droid slows down.
Yay for more system memory I suppose.

Yep. While $250 is a lot of money, its not $600 which is what the S would run me. I am actually coming out a little ahead on this deal.

I traded my Vibrant for an HD2, iPod Touch and $50. I sold the iPod for $100, so basically I got an HD2 and $150. Now I'm buying a Vibrant for $250, which means $100 out of pocket. I'm also trading my HD2 for an iPhone 3GS.

End result: I get an iPhone 3gs for $100 and still have a Vibrant. Not bad.

edit:
If I find someone desperate for cash selling a G2, I will for sure pick one up. Its a great phone and I wouldn't mind having my choice between it and the Vibrant.

Semi off-topic... Did your kid update the firmware on his mytouch and now the battery sucks and the phone is slow? That seems to be a phonewide problem with the update. It's like the morons didn't even test it before sending it out.

I'm actually seeing the exact opposite on both a myTouch 3G and a G1 both running the T-Mobile 2.2 OTA. Battery life is about the same, but the OS performance blows 1.6 out of the water. I've never seen the keyboard so responsive on my MT3G.

he's running cyanogen 6.1.

Its slow because he won't let me tweak it for him. I'm pretty sure he has some pics/videos/web history he doesn't want me to see :p
