Johnny Depp is pretty incredible.

Robin Williams has really shown some diversity recently too. One hour photo was quite a change from his traditional roles.

I have to agree. We all know Johnny is an incredible actor, but Robin Williams has played some roles that were just so convincing.

Other actors who I seek out when going to a theatre or renting:

Clint Eastwood
John Cusack
Bruce Willis
Jim Carrey(he can actually be a good actor when he needs to be)
Morgan Freeman

It's too bad he doesn't need to be more often.

Hehe! I thought he was amazing in The Majestic, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and the Truman Show.

Yeah he was good in those films. In the films where he plays a goof it seems to me he uses the same character. Ex Ace Ventura, the Mask, Batman etc.

James Marsters. I find a lot of the "name" A-list actors to be extremely overrated; a lot of them got lucky enough to get their career kicked off w/ a hit movie, then had an agent who was smart enough to filter out the roles that would be flops. A lot of the big actors are fairly mediocre IMHO.

There were a couple of his goofy roles I liked. Liar Liar and Dumb and Dumber were both entertaining. I'm glad they allowed him to graduate into more serious roles as the typcast ones were getting seriously old.

Ed Norton.

American History X <-> Fight Club . . . <-> Death to Smoochy (!!!!111oneoneone!one)

I win.

dont forget 25th hour and primal fear.

Also in "The Score" he actually plays a pretty convincing fake-idiot haha.

Seriously, Ed Norton is a great versital actor and I'd put in him my Top 3 with Hanks being #1 of course.

I have to go with Depp. The guy is almost a chameleon, as he melts into his roles. Depp disappears and the role takes over.

Travolta has to be #2 on my list. And if you think he can only play angels, you didn't see Broken Arrow.

Hanks
Cusack
Depp (though I don't necessarily like all of his characters)

Other actors that I enjoy seeing...

Matt Damon
Richard Harris (RIP)
Albert Finney
Robin Williams
Morgan Freeman
Patrick Stewart
Ian McKellen
Jim Carrey

Matt Damon
Tom Hanks
Ed Norton
Jim Carray - I loved "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"

I hate Travolta. He's unconvincing. His only good movie is pulp fiction.

This thread makes me want to go DVD shopping.

Kevin Spacey and Ed Norton get a 2nd nod from me.

Here's one nobody's mentioned................

Val Kilmer!!!

Most versatile actor, hands down is Daniel Day-Lewis. He has convincingly portrayed a number of different roles and has done so consistently over time. To name a few:

My Left Foot
A Room With A View
The Last of the Mohicans
The Crucible
Gangs of New York

Not a huge fan but you gots to give props to B. Pitt in that dept. From 12 monkeys to Snatch, he has acting credentials.
I also agree with K. Spacey. He seems to be typecast but he can break that mold when the role calls for it.

John Travolta but my opinion is biased. 🙂

Patrick Swayze is hot too!

Leonardo DiCaprio cannot be ignored EVER.

Russell Crowe is 2nd to Morgan Freeman

Russell Crowe is rather one dimensional, even if his roles have been on different extremes. The way he plays people are always the somewhat timid, soft spoken person, but not someone you want to mess with.

I didn't read the whole thread. Did you see Romper Stomper?

Harrison Ford is good. There could be only one Han Solo and Indy right?

Cannot believe there is no mention of Sean Connery and Ed Harris.

I think Leonardo De' Caprio is an underrated actor. 2 recent movies that come to mind are Aviator and Catch Me If You Can. Both movies where he changes character dramatically and does very well.

He's incredibly cute too!
