most useful certifications?

Looking to possibly learn some IT stuff and get some certs so I can branch out and expand my job opportunities.

What would you say are the most in-demand or useful certifications? What else would you suggest?

It's not a total dis-qualifier, but it's negative points most definitely. Most certifications = crap, unless they are solid like CC** and come with a lot of experience.
