Most unexpected team of the NFL this year?

Falcons. After their coach left and they had no QB, they've done amazingly well.

Cardinals - first time in 20 years making it to the playoffs
But it really begs the question - just how bad is the NFC (especially the NFC west) if the Cardinals have a winning record?

I'd say maybe the Seahawks, I didn't expect them to be this bad. Maybe the Jaguars.

I'd probably vote Falcons, as I didn't expect them to turn it around so quickly, but I'm not sure that I'm too surprised since they were able to get rid of Hall and then Petrino and Vick obviously weren't around anymore. I was surprised that Turner is as good as people have said (I was expecting him to flop after everytime they mentioned him they said he could be a starter pretty much anywhere else). I really am not that surprised about Miami since they also were able to get rid of a lot of their baggage and Parcells wasn't hampered by Jerry Jones.

The Jets are about where I thought they would be. I think this has been coming for a while for the Chargers. The coaches leaving (which led to Marty getting fired) and LT wasn't going to be superman forever. Rivers is ok, but he's no Drew Brees either. The Browns, well did anyone honestly think they were seriously going to contend? The Cardinals are reaping the benefits of playing in a very poor division and also a resurgent Kurt Warner (who again has some receivers worth using).

Hmm, actually, it is the Giants for me. I still just don't know how they made the Super Bowl last year, and I didn't think they'd be where they are now, let alone after losing Strahan and Osi.

I guess you could say there's been quite a bit of surprises this year.

Probably the Falcons...
AFC has a conference is pretty unexpected. Chargers and Jaguars were picked to contend for the Superbowl...
Titans coming out of nowhere...Jets with Favre, etc.

Falcons, easily.

All the other teams on the list might have varying degrees of surprise, but none of it is as shocking as the dramatic turnaround the Falcons have done - its like Vick mess was never there.

Dolphins are close, but they've made some solid moves that make their success not as shocking - perhaps if they end up doing significantly better than the Falcons by the end of the season (say the Falcons lose out and Dolphins go far in playoffs) then maybe we bump the Dolphins up.

Cardinals are in the same boat - they've been slowly making changes for the better and have been having more success in recent years.

Not sure why people are voting for the Titans, perhaps they're blinded by their record. They were a playoff team last season, and they're simply not screwing up in the AFC when so many other teams are (or did earlier in the season). Even though they've already clinched their division, I think the Colts might be a bigger threat from the AFC South in the playoffs.

Absolutely.

Miami, then Falcons/Ravens

All 3 teams were supposed to be fighting for top 5 draft picks next year. Now we're all fighting for playoffs.

damn, didn't think about falcons until after I voted.

Still Titans for me.

as for Atlanta:
1. It was more surprising that they were mildly successful with Vick--not a good NFL QB.
2. Sure, overcoming all the drama is difficult, but a lot of the bad blood is gone. new coach, staff, athletes. All they need to focus on is game.

I'd also think Chargers, but I remind myself of my thoughts 2 seasons ago: "They fired Marty? wha??? ....Norv??????? You must be fucking kidding me???"
Yes, this is clearly a Norv Turner coached team. Anything more would have been shocking.
In all fairness though, the officials clearly jobbed them on 2 victories. no doubt about that....

Titans.

we all knew this was going to happen...you can't only draft wide receivers and succeed
