Back on topic... The Usual Suspects.

 Glad to see there are some fans that remember this one

Most suspenseful???... hell i dunno, toss up between the above and these:

Silence of the Lambs i agree
Jacob's Ladder
American Psycho
Red Eye
Face/Off good movie, but it only gets 3/5 for suspense
Bourne Identity/Supremacy not even close. Again, good movie, but not particularly suspenseful
Negotiator
Insomnia the only suspense was wondering if pacino would ever get to sleep
The Crow

just added some commentary 😉

Come to think of it, a couple of those films were more mystery than suspense, but mystery and suspense seem to go hand in hand in terms of movie genres, hence the listing I gave

Most suspenseful???... hell i dunno, toss up between the above and these:

Silence of the Lambs Pretty suspenseful middle/ending sequences
Jacob's Ladder
American Psycho
Red Eye -Nowhere close to the level of suspense that Les Diaboliques creates
Face/Off Nothing was suspenseful about this movie.
Bourne Identity/Supremacy See above
Negotiator - Good movie, but it's more action/thriller than suspense
Insomnia This is a thriller. Not too suspenseful
The Crow

just added some commentary 😉

I added my comments. Thriller and Suspense are not the same. I should add What Lies Beneath to the list of good suspenseful movies. Man, that kept me on the edge of my seat. It's a shame that such a list is kinda short.

Hmm, Dead Again and The Fugitive should be on that list as well.

Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. When's it going to end? Now? Maybe now? Now! No... now! Maybe later. Yes! YES! No.

Well, it did win Best Picture. And also in the book, the destruction of the ring took place like 100 pages before it ended. But stay with the topic of the thread please...

He was completely within the topic, "chuckywang." Even those who read the books weren't sure how the movie was going to end. Jackson had a *lot* of places where he could have chosen to cut it off.

You know, I look at some of the replies and think "yeah, that's suspenseful" but then I think some more and realize, most of them really aren't. Take just about any of the action films named so far, you know they're going to win, so where's the suspense?

lmao we saw that in my highschool senior year during an english trip, i think our only one.

hearing like 300 highschool students getting ready to clap, then groaning.... 10 times in a row, then cheering... only to realize its STILL not the end is funny.

would an anime series count? i'd have to say cowboy bebop if so, my heart was racing for the entire last episode, best experience ive ever had watching anything.

Rear Window gets my vote too
also, Sixth Sense, Constant Gardener seem suspenseful to me. oh yeah, maybe Mystic River as well?

Signs.

The buildup to the alien reveal (although disappointing) was extremely suspenseful.

quite possible one of the most disappointing endings I have ever seen. Loved the suspense of the entire movie...wanted some twist in the story I didn't see coming...but no. They are real aliens and they can't stand water. Add to that a HORRIBLY cheesy "batters up" storyline and it ruined the movie
