Most sound-proof case?

Hi,

I would like to know what are the most sound-proof cases out there. In the past I've had cases where it didn't matter if the side panels were on or not, it was equally noisy. I guess another question would be how to make an existing case more soundproof? Suggestions anyone?

 
well.. i have the antech sx830, and with my five case fans and the 38cfm alpha fan (LOUD, 43dB) with the case closed, it isnt TOO bad.

but, i would also like to know how to "sound-dampen" a case..
what materials should be used???
 
I've heard Dynamat works good. I am looking to find something of that sort, b/c my case is very cool but way way too loud. I'll look around to try and find something.
 
I put my case under a desk & have foam around it (about a foot off each side to help absorb sound) & with 11 fans in my case (including 1 7k rpm delta) its not bad at all...
 
I've got some dynamat left on the roll still leftover from when I did my trunk of my car. Subwoofer really kicks. I was thinking about putting some in my case, but thought that it would absorb heat and may not help cooling. The stuff will cut down on noise and vibrations a ton if put in the right places.
 
Case quieting.
Dynamat. Been there, done that. Good in car audio? yes. Computer noise? sorta.

Dynamat is not useful enough to completely cover the inside of your case with it. It *might* raise the temp of the inside by .5C, but thats not the issue. It WILL add 10-20 pounds to your case, and have little impact no noise.

Dynamat does GREAT work at absorbing vibration (its freaking asphalt!) But for normal noise deadening, it does nothing.

it can be used like this: Cut a small square out, about 20mmn larger than your fan, and stick it to the inside of your case. Cut out the hole in the middle, then use some grommets to aid in quieting the fan. Then rescrew the fan.

That's the most effective way to quiet your fans, aside from running them @ 7 volts.
 
I've tried a lot of different stuff and there is one thing that works for sure: quiet fans. I have two cases with a dynamat-type product lining them, and I've tried carpet, eggcrate foam, studio-quality soundproofing mat (1.5" thick!), acoustical ceiling tile... mouse pads... but quiet fans are what works well.
 
My friend who tried dynamat said it helped mostly with harddrive noise. (he has 10k scsi drives) Thermal controlled smart fans also can help quite abit.

Anyone find a source of good quality smart fans?
 
dynamat sucks. all it does is weighs down the case and thats all.

I HEARD cork works okay but who knows. just go to a fabric store and get what ever type of cork/foam you can buy and try it. Might work out but who knows till you ytu it.
