Most reliable VNC version?

I have used UltraVNC for a long, long time. However, the UVNC server kept crash/disconnect on me, or even if it's running, restarting the service from another machine does not work.

Can anyone recommend a specific VNC (RealVNC or TightVNC) that won't crash?

I don't need file transfer capability of UltraVNC, what I need is a VNC server that will not crash.

Thanks.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling UltraVNC? If so, then the problem is with something else on your computer (not VNC) and a different version of VNC probably won't fix it.

I did uninstall old then reinstall new.

But just look at how often the author updates UVNC. I think he always rushes to release a version before it's fully tested.

I've never had any problems with RealVNC (except when avast picks up me copying something to my clipboard as a virus, causing the service to stop responding until the virus alert is acknowledged, which is kind of impossible when working remotely).

I didn't like TightVNC at all, but I was trying to use it for very high resolution screens and it just didn't work well (9600x1080). Haven't used it in any other situations, but all of my issues were directly related to the resolution.

I use UltraVNC for long time as well as other variant of VNC.

Quality wise I do not find difference. However UVNC is my favorite because it has features that other do not have.

As for the New releases. If you find it as a problem use what they call the last stable Release.

On this page the current release is v1056, so use the stable v105.

If you use the Video Hook Drivers make sure that you use the one that come with the release.
