I'm gonna be replacing my BFG Tech Geforce FX 5950 Ultra with a 6800GT. I believe BFG tech is #1 when it comes to video card brand, but I see others such as XFX, ASUS, eVGA, LeadTek, Aopen and so on....

My question is, when it comes to todays line of Nvidia video cards, what's usually the most recommended? Also, who the hell is XFX? I've NEVER seen them before.

eVGA and BFG seem to be recommended often (both lifetime warranties) Though XFX does have that double lifetime warranty going for it.

I'm leaning towards the XFX, great price and reviews show it's on par with the big names. The heatsink assembly looks a bit gimp though, any recommendations on an air cooling solution?

Yeah, I'm not gonna chance it. XFX may have a cool looking box, but I'm gonna have to side with eVGA on this one. Found a HSF assembly, thanks for your time guys,

eVGA, BFG, and XFX... eVGA is generally the best deal, BFG is good but overpriced, and XFX seems to have high temps (although they do seem to overclock well).

Good deal on the eVGA.

The same three everybody's shouting on here... :p Take yourself a XFX 6800GS XXX... NewEgg has 'em for $ 199, and they are factory overclocked... Double Lifetime Warranty as well... Will be faster and cheaper than your GT...

Sorry, but BFG scores very low in my book: their tech support is useless, their website looks like a 15 year old who didn't know any HTML did it....

eVGA is by far the best. Their Warranty is a lifetime warranty, and they let you OC & change the heatsink without voiding the warranty....BFG doesn't let you do that. eVGA wins.

BFG is going downhill lately. most people that say positive things about BFG usually refer to a positive experience with doing an RMA. lately the RMA process and customer service has been lacking and people are just now starting to bitch. the way i look at it is if BFG was a decent company they wouldnt have so many defective cards in the first place. there was even a review of a pc at Hardocp where they ran into a problem which turned out to be a defective BFG card. i would stay far away from BFG if i were you. it seems people like ASUS motherboards and BFG video cards no matter how unreliable their products have become.

Leadtek is generally the best for quality, but sometimes they aren't the best with OCing...but they can sometimes run cooler (slightly).

Generally I wouldnt worry too much though, BFG, eVGA, and Leadtek are all nice.

eVGA is definitely #1 in my view. I kind of wish I had gotten an eVGA 7800GT so that I'd have their warranty.

But then again, when I go to sell this XFX 7800 GT it'll be more attractive to sell since the lifetime warranty can be transferred to someone else.

You know why I hate comments like this? Because it's purely personal preferance. Sorry, you don't decide for everyone.

As for the topic at hand:

If you like to upgrade at a decent rate, it may be better to go XFX. That double lifetime warranty would help sell the card, maybe for a premium.

My XFX 6800GT is a dog, doesnt get very hot but it is a terrible overclocker. Can tinker and get it to ultra speeds but one sec it will pass the test the next it will fail so to be safe I just go stock.

XFX

got two XFX7800GT Extreme's here and they own, very cool, overclock very well (though in SLI i dont really need to) theres a lot of stuff on the disc that comes with them, including software to overclock further than the factory overclock

i think for 7 series xfx are great....they were one of if not the number 1 launch partners

My last 4 cards have been BFG, XFX, and 2 eVGAs. Can't complain about any of them. eVGA always has the most barebones bundle, but all have been solid overclockers, 100% stable, and problem free.

XFX has really stepped up with the warranty though, gotta love how they changed their image from everyone bashing them as a crappy Pine product just a short while back :)
