Really neat stuff. A lot of cool research coming up on fusion power generation, for example HiPER that the EU is planning (it's still in the design phase). It's supposed to offer a much higher gain than NIF and will be much cheaper to build. 🙂
 
I knew this was going to be NIF when I opened this. I saw that video awhile ago, crazy stuff.

Ever watched someone use a laser to burn something? 150 mW laser will ignite a match from several feet. This thing is only 16 orders of magnitude more powerful... so of course you will be fine bar the tiny hole :roll:
