That is an interesting article. I typically do not lie on forums. I don't see any benefit to it.

Agreed. I am probably more truthful on forums than I am in real life. I just really don't care what you guys think of me. But I do care what the people I know in real life think of me.

In fact, this may be a lie.

A very special island is inhabited only by knights and knaves. Knights always tell the truth, and knaves always lie.You meet two inhabitants: Zoey and Mel. Zoey tells you that Mel is a knave. Mel says, `Neither Zoey nor I are knaves.'

So who is a knight and who is a knave?

Does there have to be one of each? Zoey is a knave.

Nothing says they have to be different but it just adds to the possibilities.

Zoey is a knave

Proof?

Let's Break it down a little here:

"Zoey tells you that Mel is a knave."
==> Zoey is telling the truth ===> Zoey is a knight and Mel is a Knave
OR
==> Zoey is lying ===> Zoey is a knave and Mel is a knight

Mel: "Neither Zoey nor I are knaves."
===> Mel is lying ===> Both of them are knaves
OR
===>Mel is telling the truth===> they are both knights.

Go figure.

So you caught that one but managed to miss the earlier one that probably prompted it?

Zoey= Knight
Mel=Knave

Zoey says

Mel=Knave

If true, he is a knight. Mel is knave.

If false, then Mel has to be a knight and everything Mel says must be true.

Mel states, " Neither Zoey nor I are knaves." If they are both knights, then Zoey had to have spoken the truth, which wouldn't be the case if he said Mel is a knave.

Can't both be knights because of Zoey's statement. Can't both be knaves because of Mel's statement and Zoeys together.

Oh ya I would say I lie zero or once or twice a day and very very rarely about anything important. I will lie sometimes to get out of conversations quickly or to avoid a conversation I dont want to have such as someone just asked me what floor I moved to downtown and I told him 7th even though it is 1st. I wanted to avoid the who list of questions they had about why i didnt get the high floor with the good view and whatever resulting conversation would happen.
