They forgot to mention those Computer jobs are in India. $15,000 India is equivalent of $45 to 50K U.S.
They better pack their bags.

They also fail to give the FULL story in that those very same Companies that may in fact be paying those wages are the ones sending the jobs overseas to NO longer pay those wages.

It's an Organization trying to save their Bacon and at this rate they will soon be out of jobs themselves, how special.

Sounds like those CS Schools within 100 miles you were bragging about are as bad as the Georgia school.
They shouldn't have any Technology Companies there then, you better prepare to move.

Wow, teacher wages are down 6.8%. Go figure. I wonder why we can't get better educators in our system? Oh well, I guess there are more important things to fund than our children's education. :|

In Georgia like most States now hurting Budget wise the first Cut Back is Education funding.

That has gotten buried by the flack from the Head of the Schools wanting to take Darwin out of the Cirriculum.

Don't GeeksOnCall pay pretty well? Those jobs aren't going overseas as long the computers are here! :)

I know two guys who did networking by consultation at $90/hr. and that's cheap THEY tell me. :)

I need to unretire! Get my A+ and all that jazz (I don't have a clue what A+ is but it sounds like quality. :) )

If I were to do it all over again I would either focus on something that helped with sales or become a pharmacist...sales, if you are good is always big money, especially pharma sales reps and other inside sales jobs....pharmacists are in high demand now and not many people are qualified, however in a few years it might get saturated but pay generally starts at 80K/year and up...

With re. the geeks on call, I myself was considering starting a "Door to Door Dorks" service for SOHO PC repair but nixed the idea since there were others competing in the area plus I don't mind working for "the man"

Also DMC A+ is a little more than just knowing a standard ATX in and out...I believe they still test on IRQ's and some other windows BS...personally I never bothered with certs and only the lower level jobs require or look for A+.
