Saw this over at /r/gaming. What the bloody heck!? A fringe nutjob critic gets 20 places higher than John Freaking Carmack on this list?
What has Carmack done lately? Sure he can blow your mind with technical talk about game engines, but he sure as hell can't make a great video game anymore.
10. Patrick Bach, executive producer, DICE
For an alternative to CoD's comic book balderdash, look to Bach and his team's work on Battlefield. Their more sober take on war is no less thunderous, Bach's vision for dynamic and open conflict serving a more progressive design philosophy.
You forgot Scrolls which is in open beta right now.this however is pure bullshit. I like what notch did, he capitalized on a market that was untapped and is now being exploited (and in my opinion doesn't have it's biggest major hit yet or statement game). He seems like a nice guy, and smart, but he right now is just a one hit wonder and history hasn't had a chance to judge his influence yet.
3. Markus 'Notch' Persson, founder, Mojang
He's no longer making Minecraft, but Notch is still a huge figure as a result of what his game has achieved, bringing in new players and inspiring new indie devs. Every platform holder has to be hoping he brings his next project, 0x10c, to their machine.

Carmack pretty much invented about 99% of modern gaming and coding.
Not so much.
Carmack has pioneered or popularised the use of many techniques in computer graphics, including "adaptive tile refresh" for Commander Keen, raycasting for Hovertank 3-D, Catacomb 3-D, and Wolfenstein 3-D, binary space partitioning which Doom became the first game to use, surface caching which he invented for Quake, Carmack's Reverse (formally known as z-fail stencil shadows) which he devised for Doom 3, and MegaTexture technology, first used in Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. Carmack's engines have also been licensed for use in other influential first-person shooters such as Half-Life, Call of Duty and Medal of Honor. In 2007, when Carmack was on vacation with his wife, he ended up playing some games on his cellphone, and decided he was going to make a good mobile game.[3][4]
Not so much.
. Saying Carmack didn't drastically help bring gaming (especially FPSes) closer to mainstream is like saying Walt Disney didn't help 3d animation because he never did a CGI film. I guess we forget that the games are still made using the same processes only edited slightly for new features.
Y-you're joking, right?
it's most important people of XBOX
The OP said he invented 99% of modern gaming and coding, which is an absurd claim on any level.
