Census Bureau data reveals that most U.S. families headed by illegal immigrants use taxpayer-funded welfare programs on behalf of their American-born anchor babies.

The study focused on eight major welfare programs that cost the government $517 billion the year they were examined. They include Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for the disabled, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), a nutritional program known as Women, Infants and Children (WIC), food stamps, free/reduced school lunch, public housing and health insurance for the poor (Medicaid).

The highest rate of welfare recipients come from the Dominican Republic (82 %), Mexico and Guatemala (75%) and Ecuador (70%), according to the report, which says welfare use tends to be high for both new arrivals and established residents.

Dang, this is insane. That's a lot of money we don't have, both at the federal and state levels.

And add to this the expense of public education for these children. At $10,000 to $25,000 per student (depending on who you want to believe) this is billions.

Reminds me of something one of my relatives said about immigrants: they're smarter than us. If there is a way to get free shit, they find it. Food stamps, income assistance, scholarships that only apply if you're the correct race, etc.

Conservatives and liberals should work together to spread the word about these programs so everyone who qualifies for it applies for it. That way the people these programs were designed for get assistance, and the budget explodes to show what the true cost of these programs is so they can be canceled 😉

Central American immigration is completely different than other immigration waves. You used to have to work your way up. Now you get cash and expensive public services for just being within the borders. It's lucky that illegals are allowed to keep their wages after breaking the law, and it's absolute absurdity that they're allowed to get any benefits (including public schooling) for nothing.

Relative of mine works a port of entry along the Mexico border, tells stories about Mexican citizens who live in Mexico, traveling up to the U.S. once every month to hit up a government office for unemployment benefits, then drive immediately back to their homes in Mexico. They get set up with a contact in the U.S. to employ them, purposely and immediately fire them, then the federal dollars kick in.

Anchor babies. Decent illegal immigration preventative steps would stop that.

But if you read the article and look at the full report you'll find much is unrelated to anchor babies. Talks about states only having a 5 year waiting period before illegals become available for welfare etc.

No one is talking about the personal characteristics of illegal immigrants (e.g., they are lazy or dishonest or not 'nice', whatever).

The report being discussed is an objective factual account pertaining to costs etc. It's in no way perjorative or subjective. Facts are facts.

It's relevence is underscored by our national debt and that fact that concern about it is ranked very high.

IMO, we don't have money to give to noncitizens. The enormous costs cited should suggest some corrective actions to our policies to help get us out of our debt 'hole'.
