Personally I didn't vote because I haven't played enough of the games to have a balanced opinion. I bet you most of the people voting haven't played most of the games and don't really have much of a clue. The votes for Wolfenstein are almost proof of that.

Ditto, i just finished Crysis 3 and CoD:AW this month but i did buy Prey and Wolfenstein 2 when they went on sale during thanksgiving week. I have yet to try Battlefield One but i have the 8 free hours from Origin so i could at least try it.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, most realistic rendered game character I've seen to date.

Yeah, looked at the youtube video how it is made and i am actually interested in the game. Thank you . :)
They did real time capturing of the face of the "actress" Melina. Melina started as an editor but did so well in the prelimenary capture tests they asked her to play the role.

Yeah I'm going to say a tie between Hellblade & Halo Wars 2 for very different reasons.

Hellblade motion capture is awesome!

Halo Wars 2 in 4K HDR is a sight to be seen!

I thought hellblade was having a new engine but it is the unreal 4 engine which is great. Which means lots of great looking games to come. We have idtech 6.x and unreal 4 based games to look forward to.
I am glad i started playing games again and taking more time to read about it.

I voted for Wolf2 because it's the only one I've seen in person. I don't own any of those other games.

I changed my vote from Wolfenstein 2 The New Colossus to Assassin's Creed Origins. I've already beaten Wolfenstein 2, and while my feelings for it haven't really changed (I still think it's a technological powerhouse), my sentiments towards AC Origins has grown tremendously. The game is just jam packed with graphical flourishes, and tons of simulation. The latter in particular is what impresses me the most. The amount of wildlife in this game is immense, from Hippos to lions to hyenas to flamingos, and the list goes on. And each of them have their own A.I routines. Then there's the water simulation which is among the very best I've ever seen in a game.

When you consider the sheer size and scope of the game, with everything that's going on in it, it's apparent why the game has such a huge dependence on the CPU. I don't think I've ever seen such a living, dynamic game as AC Origins. It's a shame it's not using DX12. If it had, I would have voted for it in the first place.

Yeah I'd seen that video before, great stuff.

Am I the only one who thinks Assassin's Creed Unity looks better than Origins? The Graphics in Origins aren't as coherent and cohesive as in Unity, but of course, you said it yourself. Graphics are purely subjective.

Unity isn't optimized/super hardware intensive. The game actually looks like straight trash at low resolution to my eye, but DRAMATICALLY improves as you increase the resolution.

IMO
unless unity has this kind of GPU hardware thrown at it the game can't really shine:

This is a game I actually have just kept around knowing it will be FAR more enjoyable to me at 4/8k than it would just playing the actual game at 1080p resolution. Those videos at 4K YOUTUBE show the game looking downright amazing. At 8k native....

Seriously I can't wait for 4k/8k gaming.

If you want graphically demanding, look no further than ENB for Skyrim and Fallout 4.

I'm subscribed to Xanvast too, I really like his content, I can say the same thing about ThirtyIR, they both do extreme benchmarks, check him out if you haven't.

In some ways AC Unity is better looking than AC Origins. For example, the baked global illumination lighting in Unity looks better than dynamic global illumination in AC Origins. Also, Unity has much more NPCs.

However, what I like about AC Origins is that the World itself is much more dynamic and fleshed out. Even though it has fewer NPCs than Unity, the NPCs are much more diverse in their capabilities and function. And the extra time for development really paid off when it came to increasing the amount of simulation and flourishes that make the game much more grounded in reality.

Here's a good example of what I'm talking about:

I too changed my vote to this just so much detail and fine touches.

Plus the latest patch added HDR support to pc.

Tipped me over the edge...

A few video game tech reviewers like NXgamer and Digital Foundry put together a list of the most technically impressive titles of 2017, and Horizon Zero Dawn topped the list for the both of them, while AC Origins came in second. I'm genuinely perplexed at this, because while Horizon Zero Dawn is obviously a very pretty game, it doesn't do half the things that AC Origins is doing.

It has very little simulation, and the size and scope of the game are nowhere near as large as AC Origins. The largest town in Horizon Zero Dawn is a ghost town compared to AC Origin's Alexandria. Yet it topped the list. Probably because it's a Sony first party title. From what I've seen, PlayStation fanboys are the worst and most numerous on the net.

Yeah I agree with you. Don't get me wrong I love Guerrilla Games, especially the old Killzone 2 Title. Horizon Zero Dawn looks good but it's not the best, their main focus was graphical fidelity and how to make it run as efficient as possible, and they had the time, it's a PS4 exclusive, 6 years in development. As far as simulation goes, well you have seen the videos, neither the foliage nor the water react to you when you walk on it or touch it. So there had to be some compromise.

Lastly, that's a nice PC you got there man xD

Those videos were both subjective and partially what they thought looked the best. I don't think either are sony fanboys, especially not john at digital foundry.

No console exclusive should even have the chance of being at the top of that list when PC games are listed. They probably played AC on a console too...

Well maybe blaming fanboyism is premature, but I just can't see how they would rank Horizon Zero Dawn over AC Origins. At least NXgamer had the balls to say outright that he had to really mull over the decision as to whether AC Origins or HZD would take the top spot.

AC:O is a technical masterpiece. It really is. I'm surprised people aren't giving it more praise, perhaps because of the taint of Ubisoft? The draw distance in that game is incredible also. Climb up a pyramid and you can see literally half a map away (15 minutes real time riding on a horse).
