Witcher 2 with Ubersampling enabled?

this ^

witcher 2 on ultra settings with ubersampling is hands down the most demanding game.

quad 7970's/680's are needed to maintain 60 fps at all times.

i can run ultra settings with uber enabled on my dual 7970's but i get frequent dips into the 30's. since i never dip below 30, i just use a frame rate limiter to cap it at that fps and all is good. i find that 30 is perfectly fine for this game

simply - which game (at 1920x1080 with all the eye candy) is the most demanding for any given gpu (including the fastest quad sli/quad cf).

given your reasons. the latter.

The question phrased this way is rather silly.

Every game that isn't CPU limited with vsync off will run the GPU at 100%. So by this definition, almost every game is "the most GPU intensive."

Maybe, but some games will make the GPU work harder and draw more power and create more heat to do so.

think about it.

if
game A with the GPU at 100% is yielding 60fps.
and
game B with the GPU at 100% is yielding 30fps.

which game is more GPU intensive. obviously B is.

thanks for that info.

quad sli 7970/680 to maintain minimum 60fps.

btw what resolution are we talking about given such result.

Not really because sometimes the engine is a poorly optimized port. In that case it's not more intensive just by that metric. It could be the same load on the GPU but run like crap.

Who uses 1080p for PC? that is a TV resolution.

You cant call yourself a gamer if your using less than 1920x1200

D: i think this guy is serious...

but my vote goes to Witcher on Max. then Crysis 1.

witcher 2 with ubersampling is sort of cheating though.

because the devs just added supersampling as an option in the game menu.

it'll be like taking metro 2033 and supersample aax4 on that game.

Pointless thread, I can make any game extremely demanding by forcing the right settings.

If we're talking stock out of the box with in game settings, there are games that crush systems, but are just poorly optimized. It would be Metro 2033 maxed out with DOF on hands down. At least for nvidia cards which don't handle the game nearly as well as AMD cards do.

It's so pointless you decided not to reply.. oh wait. Obviously this thread isn't about discussing how forcing the right settings can make any game heavy to run. It's about which game is the most GPU intensive without forcing settings unavailable in the game.

my results are from playing at 1920x1200, anything above that, 1400p/1600p, and i'm sure that even quad setups would dip to well below 60 with ubersampling enabled. it's that demanding but looks damn nice.

Cryostasis, by far. I run most settings at minimum/off and it still slows down on a GTX680, even at 1920x1200.

Wow. 40 posts in, and you're the first person to mention Cryostasis. Respect.

Cryostasis is far more GPU demanding than Crysis and a lot of these other games people are mentioning. I guess the only reason why people don't talk about it more is simply because it's just not very well-known. Pretty obscure Russian game that was funded by Nvidia with the intent of making your computer feel worthless I think. :p

Didn't it use the same engine as Metro? I found if I turned anisotropic filtering off it ran fine. Even with it on it on it isn't as slow as Witcher 2 with Ubersampling.

No, they are different engines. Metro 2033 used 4A's own proprietary engine. Cryostasis's engine, on the other hand, was allegedly titled "AtmosFear 4". Probably only used for Cryostasis and nothing else.

The most impressive thing to me about Cryostasis was the water effects. I have never seen ice crystals realistically melt and flow down the walls in any other game. Here is another video showing off some of the physics in Cryostasis.

I actually have a couple of extra copies of this game sitting in my Steam inventory. If anyone with a tricked-out PC wants to try this game and see how it runs, add me on Steam. My profile is in my sig.

Assassin's Creed 3 runs like shit on my rig but that's probably because it uses just one card. The Wither 2 runs much better even with ubersampling.

Interesting, AC3 runs at 60 fps on my single card, Ubersampling was only meant to be enabled for those with top end dual cards.

And it did not give acceptable framerates for me with over locked sli 670s
