Most Frustrating games ever

there was this one level in Max Payne in which hes drugged and is in a dream sequence. All you could hear was his child crying and complete darkness everywhere except for a thin pathway.....God, that was haunting and bloody frustrating cos i kept falling off...

hahaha! i somehow made it through there on the first try with no problem.

when i was young, Top Gun was a pain in my ass when trying to land on the carrier. i think i only landed on it one time.

My all-time gaming nemesis is Kid Icarus on the original Nintendo.. I loved and hated that game all at the same time.

That was one of my first thoughts as well. Thing is, though, Kid Icarus is beatable.

I think those old school NES games really take the cake in difficulty. They were generally quite short, so extended playtime came about through frustrating difficulty--sometimes achieved through poorly responsive controls.

But the games were awesome. Another frustrating game, but also quite fun: Faxanadu.

Ninja Gaiden 1 & 2--the real Ninja Gaiden, not the contemporary versions.

BC2, MOH, and BF3 has made me want to punch my monitor many times. Chase sequences in Rock Star games have made me want to chuck my controller into the TV. Fighting Seth in SF4 on the higher difficulties was such a pain in the ass.

Painkiller! When trying to get the tarot cards that is.
Farcry2! While I liked the game(probably the only one who did also lol), that was not Farcry.
Crysis2! Huge fart compared to the original IMO!
Starcraft2! Very punishing at times, as stated above.

Lost many many hours to that game and some of the later levels I probably put hundreds of attempts on. Lovingly, of course.

Absolutely awesome game ... but frustrating as hell at times.

Dark Souls will make you kill babies, just wait.

Eh, the thing about dark souls is that (apart from one boss), none of the ways it kills you are cheap. You can avoid death with patience and practice. I will probably rebuy it for PC, just to be able to play that one rickety wooden bridges area at a decent framerate.

If you die, you screwed up (or are fighting the big plant boss, but even then, I think you can avoid death, but you have to know exactly what to do beforehand). To me that's not really frustrating.

Only thing that pisses me off are games that purposely prevent you from getting or doing everything in one play through in the name of "replay value" or games in which you have limited window to obtain something and if you miss it you can't ever get it.

Ninja Gaiden 3 is without a doubt the hardest of them. Both 1 and 2 had unlimited continues, 3 did not.

But don't forget Battletoads. If you ever made it past the turbo tunnel, you still had to deal with the snakes level (don't remember the exact name), where just about every other jump you had to make was a blind leap to a spot that the snake will be in the next few seconds (but which you do not know until you have seen it and memorized the spot from dying there a few dozen times, only to have to play the entire game over again to get back after your 3 lives are up).

The STALKER games can be so punishing. Stick your head around the corner at the wrong time? Sorry! Bullet through the head!

Not that I play anymore, but WoW always sucked, mostly because people are idiots and can't manage their play time during a raid.

I also find Sins of a Solar Empire to be extremely difficult, but in a good way. Total War games are the same way.

but yeah, the newer Ninja Gaiden games are ridiculously hard. I think I have Sigma? for PS3. Haven't played it in several years, but fuck that game.

Tried QWOP and managed to beat it by using only the Q and W key. The hardest part was going over the hurdle in the 50m mark

Fighting Kraven on King Mode at the end of Conan. Timing has to be perfect to get through the tar men, "skip rope", and turn the platform. It is a shitty boss battle to begin with, but that raises it to the nth power.

Oh, and he likes to try to hide off camera on you too.
