One of my CC companies put a negative mark (30 days late) on my credit report in Nov '05. I disputed the claim with them and they said they corrected it. I kept getting notices from agencies (now up to 4) and I kept contacting my CC company to correct it. I checked my credit score the other day and lo and behold, there was the same damn negative mark. I called and bitched my CC company something fierce and they said that there wasn't anything they could do about it because they already informed the agency and I would have to take it from there.
I'm going to start shopping around for mortgages in the near future and I don't want to have this off by then. Would it be faster to handle this online (can't provide documentation, only a statement), by mail with copies of all relevant documentation, or over the phone. The agency I am referring to is equifax. They claim that online is best but then I can only assert my claim in 250 characters.
