That's fake.

But will it take off from said carrier? :colbert:

Never. Impossible.

Do you have any idea how big an A320 is?, it's called the "Airbus" for a reason..

I'm inclined to agree. Bush planes are light planes designed to fly damn well at low speeds. An Airbus handles like a flying cow.

Bush plane landings are done in areas where they are designed to be operated in, the A320 is not designed to work with such small runways.

The only thing that had me go WTF was why the airport wasn't built for an easy line up, but other than that it seemed routine for me.

Landing in crosswinds is a different matter though. I hope I never have to deal with that experience. D:

Well, the geography of the area essentially dictates how to build an airport. You have to have a lot of open space, first and foremost, unimpeded by rivers and relatively flat.

Could they have aligned the airport in a better spot to facilitate a better approach? Maybe, but it'd likely been much more expensive to build.

Yea, there's a few awesome crosswind landings on YT, that's where the pilot really earns his/her dough, sideslipping 100+ tons of aircraft on to a runway takes serious skills..

No shit Sherlock, you don't have to be a pilot to realize you can't land a jumbo jet on an aircraft carrier, geez....
I did say it was fake. Also, check your sarcasm meter, it either needs new batteries, or it's broken. ;)

joystick

i always wanted to get yoke/rudders AND a trackir for natural viewing

but never could bring myself to spend the money :/

Bought a full Saitek HOTAS setup, TrackIR Pro 4, Logitech rudder...then we had a kid and I haven't touched the stuff in 2+ years.

You need to give your wife a warning and write her up for failing to do her job.

You could conceivably land one there, but the runway is too short for a C5 to take off again, it would be a one way trip..

Strap some JATO bottles on it... o_O

So, the pilot in the OP is flogging this thing in and around the hills, and just as he's dropping it on the runway... the plane calls him a 'retard?' That's not very nice...

pretty cool that the "bitchin' betty" has a british accent. I guess they can program it to sound however they like. Nice approach though....and that runway is only 500 feet shorter than LGA

JATO was used on the C130, I don't think they are fitted for nor would they be enough for the C5, it truly is a huge airplane, one flew over my house (it was part of an air show that weekend), it was like OMFG how does something THAT big fly!.."Retard" is the planes computer to retard or reduce the engine's power so the plane can flare and settle on the runway..

...I know. ;) JATO is old school. For those of you who don't know... JATO.

...and, yes, I know what 'retard' is, too. It just struck me as funny after all the skill the pilot was demonstrating and just as he starts to flare... the plane tells him he a retard. (Think of it as HAL9000 telling Dave... "I'm sorry, Dave, but I can't do that because you are a retard."
