Most bizarre car accident ever

Heh.

Is that a dealer plate though? Did she just go for a test drive and then decided to bail?

Yeah she test drove it for a while, didn't like it and just stepped out of it. Went for a stroll instead. What's the problem?

"I need your car for like 20 minutes, ok?"

"...Fine. Not a second longer though, got it? I'm getting sick of you 'borrowing' my stuff all the time."

She is swerving a lot, and hitting the brakes for no reason. Then she stops suddenly and bails, letting the car go into the opposing lanes, like she just doesn't care. She just walks along casually.

She must have been high?

“(Lacey) was later contacted and identified at St. Jude Medical Center facility and, after investigation of the traffic collision, was arrested for DUI,” a CHP officer said.
Ah, a brief moment of lucidity.

"Shit, I'm drunk! I shouldn't be driving!"

But Lacey was released from custody early Saturday due to insufficient evidence to support a criminal complaint, according to Los Angeles County booking records.

Lol, I thought that street look familiar. I used to drive to/from work on that road every day when I lived in Rowland Heights. Crazy.

If you are drunk and ever get in an accident and there is no one else involved, leave. If you stay, 100% chance you're going to jail. If you report it the next day after you sober up, they can't prove you were drunk.

pretty much why there's a hit and run epidemic in Cali right now.

stay at scene = 20 years

run away and turn yourself in later = 5 years or less

Sounds reminiscent of a race condition. (Lately I'm in the habit of thinking of our legal system as a complex computer program that lacks both a proper compiler and a proper debugger.)

Reminds me of about the only really funny thing I ever saw from Reno 911. I think it was from the movie, they played it a bunch in the previews.

"Whoa, I just had an incredible dream!"
"You know you're driving, right?"

I second the confusion. How is that not evidence of criminal negligence?

Reckless driving is a crime...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reckless_driving

Reckless Driving: Bodily Injury Vehicle Code 23104

(a) Except as provided in subdivision (b), whenever reckless driving of a vehicle proximately causes bodily injury to any person other than the driver, the person driving the vehicle shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by imprisonment in the county jail for not less than 30 days nor more than six months or by a fine of not less than two hundred twenty dollars ($220) nor more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by both the fine and imprisonment.
(b) Any person convicted of reckless driving which proximately causes great bodily injury, as defined in Section 12022.7 of the Penal Code, to any person other than the driver, who previously has been convicted of a violation of Section 23103, 23104, 23109, 23152, or 23153, shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison, by imprisonment in the county jail for not less than 30 days nor more than six months or by a fine of not less than two hundred twenty dollars ($220) nor more than one thousand dollars ($1,000) or by both the fine and imprisonment.

Pretty sure stopping randomly in the middle of flowing traffic, getting out, then letting the car roll into oncoming traffic is reckless driving, and they have it on camera. She injured two other people. How much more evidence is required? I agree, why does it need to be a DUI?
Re-arrest her for reckless driving.

not sure what the point of having a camera on while you drive if you are doing so while breaking the law, exactly what is that going to prove after the fact?

Um, what? Which law was the driver with the camera breaking?
Most people have cameras in order to absolve themselves of blame if they aren't breaking the law and get into an accident, so that there is evidence. It... proves it after the fact.

I guess the music playing while filming it might be a thing.

seems to me someone knew it was going to happen and tailed her.

Not sure what you're getting at.

The camera is a common dash mounted driving DVR. The driver listens to music while driving.

WTF? Another post like this?

Do you think the camera is hand-held? It's clearly dash-mounted.
