Btw, I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Lavos (Chrono Trigger) yet. You have various opportunities to try to beat it before the main/canonical ending.

end thread ;p

how about the classics ?? like the claw !!!
i still remember the boss on level 14 !!!
it took me hell load of time to kill it !!!!

oh one more that I like, the last boss in Crysis.... what a complete cluster fukk when trying to play it on underpowered 8600GT, slideshow and reload galore.

i thought the boss was rather anti-climactic. fighting the giant walker thing before it was much better.

yea, running away from that thing on the island was one of the best parts of the game... gave me an adrenaline rush like OH CRAP OH CRAP OH CRAP RUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The T-Rex in Turok on the N64 was pretty cool.

I liked almost all of FF7's bosses.

And Diablo in the first Diablo game was a lot of fun when you finally get there through like 800 levels of caves and you finally beat him and blood spurts out of his chest for like a minute solid. Wicked.

I always liked the fights between the highest level units in DoW since they have some pretty sweet end moves you wouldn't otherwise get to witness. Awesome stuff to see a Force Commander and Bloodthirster battle it out...or an Avatar and pretty much anything else.

While the fights are piss-easy, I'd also say the Black Guardian and Pious August fights in Enternal Darkenss; the Hivemind, the large "growth" in Hydroponics, and the growth on the outside of the ship in Dead Space too.

I'd have to really think about it. That would be a huge list.

NES:
Dragon Warrior - The big bad dragon after you kill the mage. That would be the first epic boss fight I ever had. In retrospect its not that great. All you do is attack, attack, attack, healmore, attack, attack, win.
Final Fantasy - Chaos was much better, especially because your part composition had a lot to do with your strategy for beating him.

SNES:
Super Mario World - Bowser was a hell of a lot better boss fight here than in any previous game. Mostly because he had multiple parts and they each acted differently (which would soon become the standard in all video games).
Zelda - Actually, the final boss wasnt even super exciting, but all of the triforce and crystal bosses were pretty kick-ass and certainly unique. Ganon just seemed OK for an end boss.
Final Fantasy 2 - Final boss had the best music and a moving background image, which was completely different from all the others. Also, he was huge and awesome looking. You really needed good tactics and proper use of all 5 members to beat him.
FF 3 - Almost as good. They built it up with multiple stages and body parts, but only having 4 members at one time (with replacement parties) kinda made it less interesting. Also there was the fact that most of your team members felt similar to each other. Not as much individual personality as FF2.
Super Metroid - I shouldnt even have to explain why.
Mega Man - Most of the SNES games were pretty good with decent boss fights, but nothing that stands out in memory.

DOS:
Elvira 2: Jaws of Cerberus - Cerberus himself was pretty epic. But most of you guys dont even know about this one.
Duke3D - Was a superior game to Doom in many ways, but mostly for the boss fights.

Windows:
Will get back to you.

AvP2 I liked the Predator's campaign boss.
Jedi Night - DF2 had some fun bosses in it. Jedi Outcast had a couple good ones too.
I'll try to think of some more

Painkiller tops my list. I liked the fact that I had to kill them within a time limit, always shorter as the difficulty level was changed. To get all the tarot cards and see the real ending one has to start to play the game on insomnia-nightmare-trauma. One freaking awesome game. I can't remember spending this much time playing another FPS.
