They seem to think that if you rename "somefile.wav" to "somefile.mp3" it's suddenly an MP3 file.... they to the same thing with document formats, image formats.... GIF and JPEG are NOT THE SAME THING!

Ugh, that annoys me... mostly cause you see people who claim to know how to use a computer do it fairly often....
 
my manager...she will get an error message, click on cancel before reading and the bitch cause what she wants to do won't work.

I tell her, "what did the error message say?" She says, " i don't know...i just clicked no or cancel."

wtf?
 
Today at work one of the work leads was trying to use NetMeeting to connect with our other site.

A co-worker who thinks he knows everything kept referring to the IP number as ISP, I almost lost it about 20 times but I kept my cool.
 
How about a whole office full of people (I really mean women) who have to have "weather bug" on their computers.

One I dealt with a few days ago. Someone bought a damn E-machines and asked me to fix it. That is the crappiest computer EVER! It had WinME on it as well.
 
When they use mine w/o asking, and they change stuff. I mean seriously, I"ve got it setup how I like it. I don't care if you want bigger fonts or w/e its MY COMPUTER.

i hate when people go on my computer and help themselves to installing games, crappy programs with spyware, etc. etc.
 
Use my computer to check email, but she uses the favorites button rather than the menu, then leaves the menu open on the side of ie the next time I go to use it. It just bothers me.

And when they screw down every card in the computer, even when it's just temporary for troubleshooting etc. and also when people screw down their side panels, unless it's at a lan party or something.
 
When you're asked to work on someone's office computer "because its been acting slow" to find every conceivable spyware/adware propagating app known to man installed. I just dealt with a computer that had morpheus/kazaa/grocktster/gator/weatherbug/cometcursor/something about burning dvd's (she doesnt even have a dvd-rom drive)/ etc. Gah! And of course she had the obligatory Elf Bowling as well. IT sucks casue i can't institute any administrative policies on her computer because her boss "Needs her to be able to install programs/patches without waiting for you" (I work part time). GAH.
 
I had an in-law who used to build computers for other people, and then bring them all to me when he couldn't get it to work. He knew nothing about computers, and he expected me to finish building it for him so he could sell and make the profit. He did this like twice a week. I didn't mind helping the first time, but after that I just stopped answering the door when he came over and finally told him he shouldn't build a computer if he doesn't know what the hell he is doing. He stopped coming over since 😀

The less they know about computers proportionately increases the amount of spyware they will install while using your PC.
