I'm guessing that most you here have not had the pleasure of talking (I mean trying to understand) a person from Scotland. Can't figure out why Main didn't make the poll, that's another tough one to understand and Cajun is hard as well.

Sounds like when a bad actor is trying to have an American Southern accent: it just sounds exagerated and fake.

Can you say Nicholas Cage in Con Air? That was THE worst Southern accent in movie history. 😀

Nope...Ben Affleck's Italian accent in Gigli has officially been awarded the worst accent ever portrayed by an actor on film 🙂

Keanu Reeves in Dracula gives both a run for their money with his horrid attempt at a British accent.

I voted southern, though ebonics was a close second.

Indian and Chinese take the cake.
Russian can be bothersome, but that's only because I'm Russian myself, and it irritates the hell out of me, some people don't make a slightest effort at their pronunciation.

Trust me, you'd be really irritated if you heard my Russian accent. 😉

What exactly do you mean by Indian accent?

North Indian or South? They are both distinctly different.

Damn... too many to choose. Indian, Black American (omg I hate ebonics speaking people...), and Southern.

I don't think any non-Indian here in America knows the difference.

To me the most annoying accent is a tie between all of the New England states.

To those saying southern, you must either not be from the NE area, or you are so you wouldn't say your own accent is annoying.

To me, the Boston accent is far worse than Southern (which could mean many different things, to be honest).

Black American, I work with a guy who I understand maybe 45% of the time because of his fvcking language.

I also find the Brit-speak where they substitute words for each other to be so very stupid sounding....

I'm not sure about "annoying", but the hardest American accent to understand is that spoken in some parts of Alabama. Ever try to understand that Boomhauer guy on King of the Hill? People really talk like that. Some of the cajun accents in Louisiana are very hard to understand also.
