Most advanced artificial arm

Wow that's very cool, and I didn't know it'd come out this soon. Can we expect a Ghost in the Shell type society in our near future? :Q. Well, probably not since it's very contraversial..

I wonder, if this technology gets insanly advance ((like prosthesis that are in everyway far more superior than your own natural arm)), can a person of the future just ditch his own arms, legs, lungs, heart and BUY artificial superior human parts? It's his money right? There will obviously be activists against the idea, but I'd imagine that rich people would replace their natural parts for superior parts in the future hehe.

gaahh what did i just say? nm me 😛.

anyways, cool article.

If superior replacements could be produced which looked and functioned exactly as the original did, I would not have any qualms about using them.

In fact, it would usher in a new stage of evolution. Homo superior?

I'd rather keep my original arms, thanks anyway.
I deal with the possibility of blowing off my arms, similar to the man test driving this kit. I'll take ounce or two of prevention, but I'm glad he has something resembling a cure.

things like this kinda scare me.

my first reaction was somthing allong the lines of:
"HOLY WOW! lets make the arms super strong and durable! (something allong the lines of JAX from mortal kombat 😀 ) and then he can like.....lift really heavy sh!t and stuff."

i know darn well if i thought that some genuis american thought of mounting a gatling gun on each arm and letting him loose in the mid east. getten kinda freeky if ya ask me.

Really amazing technology, it only gets more advanced from here. I think eventually we should be able to replace everything. The biggest hurdle will be figuring out how to send data to the brain, as that's lagging behind interpreting brain activity.

Lifting stuff has more to do with the back and legs than the arms.

Steve Austin. Astronaut. A man barely alive.

We can rebuild him. We have the technology. We can make him better than he was.

Better? Stronger. Faster

ne na ne na ne na ne na......

For now, Sullivan relies on an older model while Kuiken tweaks the new one. "Jesse broke 12 stainless-steel bolts on the earlier model trying to pull-start a lawn mower,"

I've never broken or sprained anything while starting the lawnmower! I feel superhuman for some reason. Well, at least stronger than 12 stainless steel bolts.

whats carryen gatling guns w/ an auto feeding ammo backpack use more of? im thinking back but that can be reinforced too 😛

Wow this is incredible...just wow.

On a nerdier note, wasn't there a tech in Alpha Centauri called like the 'human machine interface' or something? hehe

COOL. Now we just need to figure out how to build mechanical internal organs for people with failing livers, kidneys, lungs, hearts and BRAAAAAIIIINS. That's assuming stem cell research doesn't get there first.

last month's popsci had a few other devices like an artificial lung and some other stuff.

my god....... Soon the army traning program will include cutting off your arm and attaching guns to it....... technology is getting scary, eventully computers will rule the earth if we continue this way........

Does this preclude EMP resistance? I'll keep my wetware until that lil bit is dealt with.

The bionic man aside, if things ever get to a point where a true fully functional artificial arm (meaning the same or close to the same function as a biological human arm) is developed, I will be the first person to sign up. I've had 6 surgeries on my right arm (all baseball related injuries) and there are days now when I walk to work and my arm feels like its sliding out of the shoulder joint. I would gladly trade in this old clunker for a hunk of plastic if the functionality of the thing was good enough.
