I was most addicted to the original Counter-Strike. It was the first online game that I played, and for about 6 months, I was absolutely obsessed.
It takes a really good "thing" (book, movie, game, etc) to grasp my attention and keep it. The funny thing is that I either don't like something at all, or I become completely obsessed over it. Here are games that "held" my attention (read: created an obsession):
- Solder of Fortune II (maps sucked for the most part, but the weapons "felt" amazing)
- Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield (ran a community, but finally got fed up with the bugs and lack of support from UbiSoft, so I gave up on it)
- UT2003/UT2004 (wrote UAdminMod and ProZoomInstagib and ran several servers)
- Battlefield 2 (<- current obsession, writing a server browser and starting a server or two)
Console games that I got really wrapped up in:
- The original F-Zero
- The original Final Fantasy
- Street Fighter 2
- Kid Icarus (probably the best platform game I've played)
- ESPN NFL 2k4/2k5
- EA Fight Night 2
- MX vs. ATV
