mosquitos

What's a good way to keep them darned mosquitos out of your room, aside from sealing the place off? Any products people recommend? Is there something I can plug into a wall socket that'll stop the mosquitos from coming in my room? I dont really want to use mosquito candles, so this requires something that doesn't have to do with burning..

bats? i plan on putting up bat houses near my parent's home, because it's by a lake and has lots of moquitoes in the summer.

also, i've seen these mosquito repellant things that work off a propane tank. not sure how effective it is, though.

Mosquitos SUCK. They really do, literally!



Ummm... that is the only way to keep them out of your room, by denying them access. Think of it as a mosquito firewall closing all the possible ports.

I'd really love to do this, but unfortunately, this isn't possible. Our screens either have gaps, lil holes, and one window has no screen at all.

And yes, they do literally suck. A lot. I have mosquito bites everywhere, even in places you'd think they cant get to.. 🙁

Might I suggest moving out of the trailer park your are currently living in and into a decent apartment or house with screens on all the windows?

Response: Corrugated cardboard covered with tin foil, help in place with duct tape and sealed with caulk

Oh and BTW - You can use the left over foil to make some tin foil hats. Not only do the mosquitos hate them but the gov't can't read you brain waves.

This is a long terms solution, so it won't help you now, but...

I would highly reccomend getting some bat homes/bats. Generally it takes a year or two for the bats to find them (remember to sprinkle some bat guano inside), but once you get them they can take care of a mosquito problem real quick. Each bat can eat several tiems its body weight in bugs each night.

*note this is only if you are intending to live at your residence for some time

Both of these are effective, but the Mosquito Magnets can be expensive because they use propane and have expendable cartridges you have to buy every three weeks.

i'm pretty sure home depot has them. not sure where to get bat guano, though...

Yah, Home Depot has them sometimes. As for guano, your local Garden Store has it a lot as fertilizer.
