If you got one of those electric bug zappers outside, bring it in the house and plug it in one night. Turn all the lights off. Mosquitoes and any other flying insects that could be in your house will go to it like a magnet. It oughta take care of the problem pretty quickly. I did the same thing once, and amazingly the story is very similar to yours.
I do live in Canada! I'm from Winnipeg, and were having a really bad time with the mosquitoes! The city wont fog my area cause like 12 people petitioned against it!!
Let us know how it works out. I hate mosquitoes too. They make life miserable this time of year. I live somewhat near (but not too close) some power lines, and the township never mows the area underneath them. Sometimes the grass/weeds get to be 3 feet tall. It's a haven for bugs. I usually gotta give my electric bug zapper a whack on a daily basis to knock all the fried insect carcasses off the grid so it can continue to work efficiently.
BLah mosquitoes and those little black gnats! SO annoying. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan so there is quite a bit of em. Anyway, every single night I kill so many of those little black gnats cause they flock the the monitor because that is the only light in the room. That idea of putting a bug zapper in the house is pretty good but I don't have that many in the house. At night it goes constant outside though.
Have you noticed mosquitoes seem to love some peoples blood more than others. When we have outdoor barbies (that's Oztalk for BBQ) in the evening, the bloody mozzies (that's Oztalk for mosquitoes) always go for me (while seemingly ignoring others) - I even got cellulitis once as a secondary infection after I had been scratching these bites on my legs for days (god they were itchy) & they got septic. I ended up in hospital on an IV antibiotic drip for 4 days - my right leg went purple virtually overnight & my right foot swelled up like a balloon, & all from bloody mosquito bites......lol.
Then while in hospital I was watching the ABC (Australia's version of the BBC) science program, 'Quantum', they had a thing on why mossies seem preferr some people more than others. Guess what it turns out that the people who mozzies love best, have a either a vitamin deficiancy in a certain vitamin (I forget which) or they have a problem breaking down that vitamin.
