No lathe, I just have a hand-held crowning tool. It has a brass pilot shaft that you insert into the barrel -- I have a slew of different diameter pilots.

Basically you just stick it in the muzzle and while giving it some pressure, you turn it -- it has cutting blades that shave the steel away.

I put a better shoulder pad on it just so I could shoot it without flinching.
