yes, but wasn't it posted to his Twitter or something? --If these chuckleheads posted it in response themselves, nothing you can do about it (OK, you can actually block them and remove it yourself, right?). If the campaign posted it, it's direct endorsement of the image. It might as well be from his campaign at that point.

There's definitely levels of blame here regarding the campaign, the "best" for them simply being that they never removed it, which means that they are too lazy to do their jobs or, more accurately, endorse it gleefully.

I think but I could be wrong it went they took the picture, someone posted it on instagram or similar, someone then posted it somewhere in #moscowmitch's twitter or similar.
Not exactly something our bud could do himself because we all know he pays someone to manage that shit.

It did not appear on any official twitter feed, it was on a random Instagram that ended up going viral. AOC tweeted it herself to ask McConnell if they worked for his campaign or not.

The question I have is was this cardboard cutout at the rally provided by McConnell's campaign for people to take pictures with? If so (and it looks like the case and that this is somewhat standard practice for campaigns) then it does seem to me that they are encouraging this sort of behavior.

Ah OK, good to know. Would they really be setting up these cutouts for photo-ops? That's really strange. It's also just tacit admittance that your campaign and party doesn't have a single policy issue to discuss, just a traveling circus to entertain the morons with populist, us v them rhetoric and "fun activities."

To be fair campaign rally has almost always been about entertainment more than policy. They used to include parades, and bands, and sometimes included literally circuses, elephants and all.

The thing I'm a bit concerned about is that by putting out cardboard cutouts of rivals at your campaign events you can only be expecting your supporters to treat them with disrespect, because you would not give them free photo ops unless you planned for it to be negative.

The intent is to reinforce the "enemy" narrative, which is all the GOP has to stand on for...fucklong as I can remember.

It's like those cutouts where you place your face in the image of a thief or bankrobber, being arrested by the good guy, or a happy Indian about to be slaughtered by a noble cowboy, etc.

Caricature your enemies in a playful circus atmosphere, let your rubes identify with them in a physical way to keep their brains focused and trained on this phantom notion of "the other," because the rest of your person will be blind to everything else that I am literally stealing from your pockets.

No. The kids appeared on some pictures posted by the campaign, but the campaign did not post that picture. I suspect the wording of these articles is deliberately worded to make people believe otherwise.

The Republican Party, the Trump campaign and other GOP organizations said Thursday that they are freezing their spending on Twitter to protest the platform’s treatment of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Twitter temporarily locked McConnell’s campaign account Wednesday after it shared a video in which some protesters spoke of violence outside his Kentucky home, where he is recovering from a shoulder fracture.

The social media platform said in a statement that users were locked out temporarily due to a tweet “that violated our violent threats policy, specifically threats involving physical safety.” The statement did not indicate exactly how long the account was frozen, saying only that it was temporary. The account was active Thursday, but no longer contained the tweet.

National Republican Congressional Committee Executive Director Parker Hamilton Poling said her organization was halting Twitter spending “until they correct their inexcusable targeting of @Team Mitch.”

“We will stand firmly with our friends against anti-conservative bias,” Poling said.

The national Republican Party and President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign had projected spending $300,000 to $500,000 this month on Twitter, according to one GOP official who spoke on condition of anonymity because the official wasn’t authorized to publicly discuss the plans.

I'm all for voting with your wallet (which appears to be what they're doing), but this is the same group that cries 'freedom of speech' anytime a republican gets banned from the platform. For a group of people that are not only claim to adhere closely to the constitution but also who's job it is to work in politics, you'd think they'd understand what freedom of speech does and does not mean, as well as the fact that a private company can deny service to them at any time for any reason.

It's another attempt to work the refs, and I hope it backfires. If twitter bows to the GOP, they are emboldened, we find yet another space where the rules just don't apply to the GOP because they complained very loudly that the rules apply to them.

Trump getting banned from twitter is like being prosecuted. It'll have to wait until his replacement is sworn in, Jan 20, 2021. He might have a very bad day.
