Lets see; you have a predominately Christian army, with Christian leaders, waging a war in the Middle East who rely heavily on air power for force projection via 1000lb JDAMs and drone fired Hellfire missiles that produce similar, sometimes significantly more, civilian casualties.

Let me ask a rhetorical question. Do those who use these instruments of war and pray for their comrades and families also pray for the innocent or do they make believe they have no victims.

That's all I will ever say on the subject.

Not even close to being the same, sorry.

If you can't tell the difference, maybe you need to be sitting at the kid's table.

Wait, is this the AT politcial forum? Nevermind, you are in the right place.

What a maroon [no sarcasm].

How many 1000s of civilians, including children, did we 'liberate' from earthly existence in Iraq since 2003?

How many hundreds of 1000s of Iraqis have died since Desert Storm as a result from being "bombed back to the Stone Age" ?

And for this?

Forces of defeated Iraqi prime minister investigating, detaining political rivals

At least four Sunni Muslim candidates who appear to have won parliamentary seats in Iraq on the winning ticket of secular leader Ayad Allawi have become targets of investigation by security forces reporting to the narrowly defeated Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, according to interviews Saturday with relatives, Iraqi security forces and the U.S. military.

All four candidates ran in Diyala province, a restive mainly Sunni area north of Baghdad. One candidate who won more than 28,000 votes is being held incommunicado in a Baghdad jail, two other winners are on the run, and the whereabouts of the fourth, a woman, are unknown....

Gee.

I guess Nouri al-Maliki will attempt to maintain power in the 'Old-Fashioned Iraqi Way', huh?

What's interesting is the response of the Russian President saying these people who did the attacks were animals and not human. Prime Minister Putin said these people would be destroyed.

Whats oddly missing from those statements is: We'll give them a free trial in Moscow.

How many died a preventable death during the charade of sanctions? Over 10k per month, for how many years? How many died under Saddam's regime?

How many millions of Iraqi's now live free from one of this century's most brutally oppressive dictators?

Females, huh?
At least the Arabs have the decency to use men since they are superior and more deserving of the honor.
On the other hand Russia has always been fairly practical and since men can work harder it makes sense to off the women first.

read up about the history of the algerian struggle against the french.

So we strip-search every woman who's received a mastectomy?
Of course not. That would be profiling, and that's wrong. We strip search all the women.

Seriously, it's hard to hide explosives in the lack of something, and reconstruction includes nipples.

This is mother Russia's own blow-back for slaughtering 1/4 of the Chechen population in hopes of gluing their two-bit empire back together.

I'm sure that the Kremlin was salivating over the thought of pulling that kind of stunt in the eastern block, but realized that they'd never get away with it due to the amount of resistance from the well-armed (nuclear) shards falling off their precious chandelier, as well as the proximity to Europe.

Go get 'em, Pootie! /roll

Whats interesting is that just a few days/weeks ago Russian special forces have killed several top-level terrorists (or "freedom fighters" for U.K. readers) in Chechnya region.

With government funded lawyers too😛

Sure it is!

Oh wait.. You've already picked a side in the holy-war, haven't you. Have fun with that, while I'm laughing from a safe distance. I hope both sides burn down to the ground. Maybe when that day comes to pass, the adults can have a turn at civilization.

Honestly, Iraq would be better off with Saddam still in charge. The Iraqis are not ready for any government other than a brutal dictatorship, this has been proven since 2003. They are completely unable to properly govern and police themselves and therefore require someone to do it for them. That man was Saddam, and now, he's dead. It doesn't matter how many Iraqis Saddam slaughtered, what matters is the fact that he kept the region stable. Now it is not, and will not be, for a very long time. We made a mistake going into Iraq, that much is certain. Everyone knows this.

Gee, Islam once again. Still waiting for the other evil and violent religions to prove their equality.

The other religions of the world have, for the most part, evolved with the modern world. Islam has not. There is no excuse for the behavior of these militant fools. Everyone knows this.

Truth in politics is like a mayonnaise sandwich. You cannot see its true face until it falls and the weight of all the lies and hypocrisy come crashing down to reveal its naked unadulterated self.

It's just my humble opinion but I truly believe that the world will tear itself apart over oil in the next 20-30 years. Aggressive movement to green energy still requires oil and the next decade will be critical. If nations are incapable of making the switch fast enough there will be major wars over natural resources and civil war.

The only ones who will be left largely untouched are those with wealth and power to shield themselves from it for decades. The US would need to fall completely from grace as a Superpower and as long as the following two hold true nothing terrible will happen to the US; US Dollar is the world's reserve currency and all oil trading still requires that it be done in US Dollars. Should one fail so will the other, and if it does watch for the other shoe to drop.

everyone has his comeuppance, we should be grateful that there are large bodies of water between US and hotspots...

There's no excuse for the behavior of OUR people, including those here in P&N, who blindly hate their own peers so greatly as to compare them to Islamic terrorism.

You hear all the time how the religions are equal, Islamic terrorism is nothing special. "But those Christians!". How does one overcome terrorism that has a majority political party and their lemmings strapped to their backside?

Well said. It often amazes me that progressives can equate Christian fundamentalists' opposition to gay marriage and gay adoption with Islamic fundamentalists' stoning, beheading, burning alive, and all the other lovely little punishments of gays and pretty much anyone else opposing the establishment of world-wide Islamic theocracy or breaking Islam's 7th century rules. I disagree with evangelicals on a lot of issues, but there is no comparison between the two groups. Furthermore, progressives are always making excuses for Muslims, but you never hear a progressive complaining that, say, gay men are forcing Christian evangelicals to oppress them because of their behavior in San Francisco/Key West/New Orleans.

Where is the Left protesting?

Obviously if Russia ends its occupation of Chechnya and suspends its ruthless policies towards terrorism, and engages in a "peace process" to win the affection of the enemy...homicidal Muslims will stop detonating themselves in train stations.

Oh wait, that's Israel.

Cause terrorism is only cool when the Jews are the target.

No moral equivalence when Russia, India, and USA are victims of pointless aggression.

Anyways, I personally don't feel a lot of sympathy towards Russia. Putin-led government STAGED a terrorist attack to justify a war against Chechnya. Russia is the #1 protector of terrorist states like Syria and Iran, and sponsors Arab genocides in Sudan and elsewhere.

What goes around comes around.
