Sell the gift card and have a really nice couple dinners at home. I wouldn't waste your time if you aren't going to get a steak, honestly.

well, they expire after tonight. If it was longer term, then I would sell them. Just too short of notice, and otherwise that steakhouse made $200 and didnt have to serve anything.

I'd go.

2 person porterhouse (90), 2 sides (25), appetizer (15), drinks + tax + tip = 180 or so. I don't see why you would go there for seafood....

I thought morton's was bomb as fuck. their wild mushroom side is delicious.

It can get very expensive but I thought it was really good. A vendor took us threre one time for a business meeting and for 5 of us the bill was a little over 1,500 dollars. That was with steaks, sides, appetizers, deserts and like 3 bottles of 100 Far Niente wine.

Did it come with complementary bj's?

You guys ever eat at Bobby Van's? We went to the one in NYC I dumped $350 on a dinner for 4 there, but wow that was some quality eatin' :) I had an excellent butter garlic steak, my wife had lamb chops, and my kids had pork chops. Not sure I'd dump that kind of cash again, but it was something to remember.

We even saw James Gandolfini walk in- I guess that place is a hotsot for celebs.

Update on Dinner.

So, it was pretty bad ass.

We got the following:
Crab Cake Appetizer
I got a pear martini, she got a pomegranate martini
we both got a lobster tail for dinner, with sides of mashed potatoes and garlic green beans (which were awesome)
She got another martini, I got an espresso
We split creme brulee for dessert, and got chocolate cake to go (for the person who gave us one of the gift cards)

The server actually put tax on the gift card. The total came to $182 with tax. He then said that we can put tip (the $18 that was left) on the gift card as well. So I put $30 on my debit card.

He got a $48 tip, we got a $180 meal, and it cost me $30 out of pocket. It was an awesome night.

No way I could go to a steakhouse and not get steak. There is a seafood place near my house that I want to take my wife to for our anniversary and order $50 worth of raw oysters.

$48 tip is insane. IF your subtotal was 182 (with tax included), that's like 26% already. KNowing that ur not supposed to tip on tax, that's like 30%. WoW. Hahaha, anyways I really wanna try out Mortons. I'm glad you had fun there.

How much beef can you buy w/ $200? I would buy that much beef and slap it on the grill.

I been to the Morton's in Georgetown and thought it was the best steak I've ever had. I really enjoyed the ambiance; was not stuck up or snooty at all - was actually quite a fun experience. I've been to a Ruth's Chris once before and as I recall, I enjoyed Morton's better. Morton's makes an absolutely to-die-for chocolate volcano cake dessert. Good times.

jesus 200 bucks for a steak dinner for two? thats 100 bucks per person... no way would i pay that. i would rather go down to my local butcher and get 200 bucks worth of dry aged prime beef and enjoy at home.

Lobster X2
taters and beans X2
cocktails X3
coffee X1
creme brulee X1
chocolate cake X1

sorry 200 bucks for that does not compute even if i take out the 48 buck tip.

The meal was basically free, if the service was good what's an extra $10 out of his pocket? Wow, a $200 meal cost him $30 instead of $20. BFD

It's a bit pricey but not ridiculous. Good lobster often costs $30-50. Martinis $8-10 each. Desserts $10 each. That's $150 right there.

You must not eat at upper end restaurants often.

thank you for seeing that. It was free. $30 out of pocket was awesome, especially since I was assuming tax and whole tip would be out of pocket.

side note: they have specialty martinis, $15 a piece, worth it :)
