I'm a huge MK fan ever since I started playing it at the skating rink back in the early 90s. Crowds would all stand around the original MK and place their quarters on the ledge... waiting to play the winner. Boy those were the days - I'd play for 2-3 hours at a time without losing reaching win streaks of 40+. While the original MK had a huge impact on me as a young child... my favorite has to go to Mortal Kombat II. This game just added the perfect amount of new moves, fatalities, characters, stages, etc. The controls were so smooth and I was blown away by the graphics at the time.

The OMK has to be my favorite. I can remember spending $70 a weekend trying to learn all the moves and fatalities.


I have the same memories of people standing in line waiting to play and putting their quarters up to assure they were next. It was nothing to play for $5 a game. 🙂
 
this is a stupid thread. anyone who knows anything about MK knows that MK2 revision 1.3 was the best by far. 😛

Then comes MK1

Then come MK3 which was mediocore at best ...

Then it slowly goes down hill from there....

but I will admit, I played MK Deception for Xbox quite a bit. It was a pretty decent game.
 
I like Mk2 the best... it was easy, and fun.
And it was simple, not overly complex... so just about anyone could play it.
 
Anything is better than the abomination they call Dead or Alive.
I heard that one of the three cores on the X-box 360 is responsible for rendering the breast physics in DOA when the game is played.
 
Cool, glad to see that most everyone is with me that MK II is the best.

Have you guys tried Armageddon? Is it fun at all. I enjoyed Deception a bit... but played Puzzle Kombat more than anything.
 
Which version of MKII had the bug where Sub-Zero could throw the Ice field up and the other guy couldn't move otherwise he'd get frozen by the field? I think it was a issue where is was doing the 1st part of a fatality.
 
I have been a huge MK fan since day one. MK II was awesome but I have always been partial to Ultimate MK 3. Both are great games and I spent entirely too much money on them in the arcades, along with Tekken 2/3 and Killer Instinct. 😀

Yep, however MK1 had some SERIOUS glitches which made it pretty dang cheap.

Examples:
1. Diagonal with the block button would keep anyone from throwing you (This is VERY cheap when used with Sub Zero).
2. Once down, Sonya can keep throwing you with her legs over and over again and there is nothing you can do about it.
3. Johnny Cage can keep you in the air in the corner by doing a quick jump punch.

However, the cool part is, you can do some pretty cool fatalities.

Example:
1. Multi-fatalities with Johnny Cage
2. Floating heart with Kano
3. Fatality with Sub Zero while the guy is laying on the ground
