The (generally considered) best mods and graphic improvements in one ~1.65GB package, tested for stability and compatibility. Great for those who want to replay that magnificient game. :) Morrowind still has a strong modding community after 11 years. This is how Bethesda's games stay fresh for so long. :)

I haven't played Morrowind. How's it compare to Oblivion gameplay wise. I was never able to get into TeS IV.

Would a 1.65 gig mod make a difference? that game was pretty huge. I remember reading that it takes 8 hours real time to walk from one side of the map to the other.

If you didnt like the gameplay in Oblivion, I seriously doubt you'd like Morrowind. Everything is more complex. And not everything is self explanatory. For example, unless you read the manual you will never know how to delete spells from your list, which can get quite huge. It doesnt really have an intro level like the other games.

I played the 2.0 version when it was the latest and it was fantastic. Morrowind still is the best Bethesda game in my opinion. You could actually use your own creativity for character development instead of pre-cut hand-held classes. I'm referring to spell creation, crafting and alchemy mostly. You could do pretty much anything and could get creative with it. (and could easily break the game if you wished) Levitation, jump, mark and recall, combined effect spells(or potions). Yeah, it wasn't perfect and had its flaws but I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Also, Morrowind still has the best atmosphere out of any Elder Scrolls games. It's erie and mystical at the same time wherever you go.

That said, after revisiting the game many many many times with different mods like this one I think I'm finally finished.

no. it does not take 8 hours. the game FEELS big, but take away that fog, and its fairly small.

I bought Morrowind on relase day 11 years ago. I have put over 3000 hours into it. I have still yet to beat it.
really need to get around to it.

Might as well pick Morrowind on Steam (9.99 for the GOTY edition) and try out this Overhault thing.

Holy %#$@! 3,000 hours and you haven't beaten the game! Im currently playing skyrim, and I've never played morrowind. For a moment I was considering it especially with this pack but yikes it would take me the rest of my life to beat the game if it has that much in it! I only have time for a few hours a week of game time.

You'd still enjoy the game a lot! If you like Skyrim my guess is that you'll love Morrowind.

And if you concentrate mainly on the main quest, you will beat the game fairly quickly.

thats not all one playthrough... i did start quite a few characters and did tons of different things, but i figure i didnt touch at least %50 of the game.
And that time includes all the modding i did. I even had a compiled plugin pack.

It really depends on what you liked/didn't like about Oblivion. Morrowind was a much more in-depth game. Oblivion dumbed things down for the Console generation.

But core principles such as open ended sandbox world are core to the TES games. If you don't enjoy that or if you need to be lead by the nose, then probably Morrowind isn't your thing.

Morrowind was one of the smaller Elder scroll games.. but it didnt use the random generated system the earlier ones did so pretty much all of its had crafted. If i remeber ir right Daggerfall had like 60 some odd square miles of game and Oblivion had 16 and morrowind has about 6..

cool fact (souces are my memory, maybe incorrect)
Daggerfall was orginally called Morrowind
Morrowind was orginaly called Tribunial (name ov expansion pack later)
Morrowind was orginaly on a modified version of the same egine Daggerfall was made, but Battlespire and Redguard delayed it and the jump to a better engine was done
Morrowind can be "won" in just over 4 minutes (youtube) old record was 7+ minutes

Yeah while the numbers may say that Oblivion is bigger, Morrowind felt absolutely massive in comparison. And that's before using Oblivion's fast travel.

About the time I stopped playing morrowind, I read about a guy that killed every NPC in the world except for re-generating ones. I always wanted to do that.

I'm downloading this mod but I'm not sure I can get into it again. It was great at first but then I found a ring that allowed a minion to spawn and help me fight. After that I got glass armour Started getting real easy.

I'll keep it in mind! I think i'll be on skyrim for quite a while. looking at all the mods for it is overwhelming! haha

A fun tactic I use to use for outdoors battles.

-levitate for 15 seconds
-summon scamp
*watch scamp kill everything. (only works against non-ranged units obviously)

Creating spells was so much fun. Every time I'd encounter a battle that I didn't have a good strategy for I'd go back to the mages guild and spend an hour coming up with a counter-spell strategy for it.

and that is the reason these games whre so great...Personally i love Daggerfall, its huge (randome generated )world was something just not done at the time it came out.. you had a goal (main quest) but you could get so lost just looking around. Some say all that space and extra dungones and such where waste as they didnt really do anything (true) but some of us thrive on discovery.. i loved that there was always a new town, dungeon, place to see. Spells couldbe tailored to my lking as could most anyting..

Morrowind and Oblivion made that world so much better to look at, if a bit smaller. Whne they went to hand made map it felt more real for sure.
