Here is a video demonstrating the mod.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=2r6hilB6Dlc

I've had it installed for nearly a week now. It makes my 8600gt cry. I have a new card on the way which should be arriving tomorrow. (as well as more ram since I'm only running 2 gigs)

With everything pretty much maxed out I get like 2 fps. lol. I've been tinkering and scaling it back. I finally got it to settle at an acceptable average of 18fps. Hopefully when I get my new card tomorrow I'll be able to crank it back up.

If you want to give it a try here are some quick tips that might save you a lot of time.

On windows vista or windows 7: Do not install Morrowind into the default programs file directory. Make a folder right out in your C: or something.

Do not let the autoloader run the setup file for the installs. After the disc is in, open up the folder and run the setup.exe as administrator. (do the same for the 2 expansions)

That's pretty much it. Everything else is well documented.

The mod can be found here.

I've never played Morrowind either, but I loved Oblivion and the Fallout games. I think I'll pick it up.

I call BS..I didn't see a jillion cliff racers and people running in place into a wall for hours on end boosting skills...:p

That one is still the best of any open RPG. period.

Awesome!

I've been looking into some mods and stuff to get back into Morrowind after all these years. This is super tempting.

Cmon guys, we're PC gamers; surely you can figure out how to make yourself an admin and turn off UAT or at least run all the setup stuff as administrator...

I can't believe how often I see this line - are most of us still using mommy and daddy's Dell or are getting hand-fed a store bought PC without wiping the OS and reinstalling and giving yourself admin rights?

Sorry, it just annoys me. I, on the otherhand, have ALL my stuff installed to Program Files (and Program files (x86) )no problem! :p

Actually on topic - I have this mod and it's pretty bamf.

I never install anything under the program file folders. Vista file sharing sucks enough as is without making it worse by doing that.

Wow, this looks great. I was originally trying to get that Morrowind 2011 compilation working, but that had fallen through due to mod authors not approving it. I'm glad to see this one is sanctioned by those people. I'll have to download this right away when I get home

I shouldn't have donated my copy of Morrowind. I really want to try this since I never even remotely close to finishing Morrowind

Wow. That looks awesome. I stopped playing Morrowwind about 10 minutes into it since the graphics looked so badly outdated. I hope I can get this mod to work, and I will give it a second try.

(It is funny how I can't stand early 3D graphics, but have no problem with early 2D graphics ...)

Wow, that's a massive update. How stable is it though?

Hmm...I think I may have the morrowind disc at my parents house somewhere. Will look this weekend.

Pretty good looking Mod pack there.

It's really impressive to see Sun rays coming through the trees in some of those shots.

It's amazing that with the right Textures and tweaks, a ten year old game can stand up pretty well even too today's best games.

It seems to be rock solid. Some people appear to have some minor issues during installation but the guys over on their forum are quick to help. The longest part is tweaking it to get your best performance/appearance ratio.

The installation is somewhat complicated.. but the step-by-step instructions are fantastic. I have the process memorized now after dealing with some issues and reinstalling a few times.

Don't forget to install the 1.1 update though. Huge performance enhancer as well as tons of more features.

Nice.

I bought a copy, recently, and have been trying mods one at a time, and tinkering with the UI through the process (it is kind of awkward). I'll give this a spin and see if it can be a nice one-stop graphics mod.

I think it's just Bethesda. I was proactive w/ Morrowind, but moving FO3 out of Program Files magically fixed it, even problems I didn't know I had until they were fixed. Everything else I have installed like normal, and it's all fine. And BTW, no, most of us do not disable UAC, just like we don't run our Linux installs as root all the time.

It proves that all this DX10 and DX11 stuff is a red herring. The technological gimmicks aren't what make a game look good.

Of course. DX10 and DX11 allow for things that couldn't be done before, but more in terms of efficiency and precision than whether or not you can make a good looking scene. There's a fair chance that Starcraft II might be able to be less of a CPU hog at a given FPS, were it DX11, instead of DX9, FI (or, maybe not--I don't know Blizzard's secret sauce--but it's plausible).

The backgrounds look much nicer now. Although the characters still look like crap. It may just be my failure to set up the mod correctly. The final screen that is supposed to come up with the options never did come up. I must have screwed something up somewhere, but at least I have a bunch of good visual mods installed now.

Open up the morrowind folder and run MGEgui.exe as administrator. That's the most important part.

Sounds like they didn't include Better Bodies or Better Heads, or some of the other Character beautification Mods - that's a bit odd if that's true.
