morpheus/kazaa users who don't share [grrrr] (poll too :))

does anyone else get peeved about this?
cuz there's an option you can click to not share your files at all.
I mean, if everyone did that, then there'd be no kazaa/morpheus at all...

I just think if you're gonna take, give some as well... even if you limit yourself to 1upload at a time, it's still a start.

ooh... new idea. lets make a poll 🙂

i just leech. i have a 128k upload cap, and i'm not gonna have some person downloading crap and messing up my surfing. there are plenty of people who have fast DSL or T1's, T3's or above to make up for people like me. Obviously, otherwise morpheus, etc. would suck.

besides, the "shared folder" is just a temporary spot for stuff before it gets organized and copied to the directory it belongs in, be it music/, video/, etc.

I have a 45k upload cap and I still share...
I mean, I'd understand if someone's on dialup and doesn't want to share since he/she won't be helping much anyway.

but I'm willing to say I could sacrifice 1second delay in loading webpages because other people are sacrificing the same for my downloads.

<< I share 12gigs on kazaa..

fsckin leeches..
>>

nice to see that some other people are willing to share what they've downloaded.
I share around 20GB of mp3/vid/divx... and it's growing!!!

but seeing how most people don't share... I'd hate to realize the fact that I'm giving to leeches. IT REALLY BUGS ME!

The university has a bandwidth violation threshold of around 8GB/week. That combined with the fact that the internet's slower than a 56K modem here because everyone's using Morpheus, is why I'm a giant leech.

Every once in a while, when the network's faster, and I know I'm not going to use my 8GB for the week, I'll turn on Morpheus and let everyone go hog wild on my hard drive. In fact, I think I'll do that right now. Most of the time, I'm just a leecher though. It's good for the strained campus network here. 🙂

I used to share close to 1000 files (10+ gigs), but I had to format my HD last weekend, and move most of that stuff elsewhere temporarily. So right now I'm only sharing 147files (about 640 megs).

I share about 26 gigs. And not only do NOT share temporary morpheus files, but I do share the location where completed files go. No reason sharing temporary files if it isnt complete.

Most times I have DC and Edonkey going, but as of late, morpheus sucks the big one.

I'm on dial-up and I load up Morpheus, spend 15 minutes downloading an MP3 and disconnect so there doesn't really seem a lot of point sharing.

I share around 15~20 gigs and upload a little over gig per day, 7 days a week. Not in Morpheus tho, in another similar (but better) program.

I hate people who don't share. Even though I have only 12 K/S upload total, I still share. Basically I limit it at 2 people with 3 K/S each. In morpheus this works nicely though because you can get a file from multiple people at once. So if everyone at LEAST had these settings. Then when someone goes and gets a file, they get 3 K/S from 10 people and it is 30 k/s.

At 2 people with 3 K/S each, people have downloaded entire movies from me and it never hurts my bandwith.

I'm sharing 5 gb of mp3's on AG and Kazaa.....

Although i only stay on for the duration of my download. Then i get the heck off. You damn leechers!!! 😀 j/k.

im sharing around 4 gigs also.. downloaded 400 songs in a week.. thank god for my dsl! 😛

i was so sick of dial-up... the only thing is, is that i don't have a firewall up... verizon Begged me not to use the one on XP.. should i have one! ??!

I used to share big-time until my mom said that her online Backgammon game (Yahoo! Games) was lagging badly because of that... unfortunately we share the same DSL line. 🙂
Now I cut down the max. throughput to 64 kilobits.

edit: bjc112: OF COURSE!!! Don't listen to the ISP! They don't know which O/S you're using, and you're much safer with a firewall! They're probably saying that because there's a "built-in firewall".... pfft, whatever.

I share. Even though I have a 128k cap I share over 40 gigs of mp3's. I can understand if some people are on dialup and they dont share or maybe someones bandwitdh is limited and he needs whats avaialable to get that pr0n as fast as he can hehe

Uhm, I am not going to share files on Morpheus/Kazaa and probably never will. Firstly I'm at my cousin's house, on his cable, with a 15KB/s cap and 1GB monthly upload limit. Do you have ANY idea how fast that would evaporate if I were to share with Morpheus? It just isn't a considerable option, and never will be, unless the cable becomes uncapped and unlimited, which I don't see happening. I'm getting my own cable at home on Dec.31... but I doubt I will share much, I may sometimes, but not usually, again for the same reasons. What if I want to *use* my cable? If I'm uploading, it'll be totally bogged up for uploads, sending MP3s and files to people I don't even know.

If I had unlimited I wouldn't care, though.

Yeah, I share stuff until it gets organized.

i share on both bearshare and winmx. i have cable modem so i don't mind at all. i just wish i could get more solid connects with users than i do. lots of 10-20k connects instead of 60-100k connects.

i limit my uploads to 2 each.

what bugs me is when some dialup gets on at 2-3k/sec and ques up an entire album. they are just greedy leeches limping along at 2-3k. it's so weak. when i am done i log off dropping the connection. i wish i could limit uploads to people with 128k ISDN and up. no dialups.
