I'm debating whether or not i should invest in a cheap mp3 player to use while i'm riding... but between the safety issue of it hindering my ability to hear traffic around me, and the annoyance of having to have it turned up so loud to overcome wind noise etc... I'm wondering if it's worth it or not.

thoughts?

It's illegal to operate a motor vehicle with both ears blocked by something like a headset or headphones. So, I don't think it's a terribly good idea.

cool -- if thats the case then I wont even consider it.

thanks for quick answers 🙂

I don't know how you can hear a nearly silent Honda Acccord behind you with 70mph wind noise and a 90dba engine running at 10,000rpm, anyway.

I use mine on a daily basis...
40 gig Creative.. get the super tight fitting ear buds and works under your helmet..

its no different either way I wear earplugs if i dont use the MP3 player...
bike is not super loud but 80 mph of wind noise+ traffic noise + an Acropovich race exhaust = loud and gives a headache after a while...
MP3s or earplugs definatly make it a better ride.
