So, with another hurricane coming and gas prices already fubared... people are buying gas left and right even here in San Antonio. It's crazy. I went into work today and stopped at my local corner store gas station to grab some coffee like I always do. I happened to drive today and not ride my bike since I was a wee bit tired from staying out the night before. Anyhow, I go in, grab my coffee and noticed the place and pumps were all packed!!! The lady in front of me gets to the register and asks for $20 regular on pump 8. The attendant behind the counter says, "Sorry maam, we are out of regular we only got supreme left." The lady said, "Well nevermind then." "Oh no, since we only have supreme left it is now the same price as regular."

At this point I do a double take... "WHAT?!?!?!" I can hardly beleive my ears. Supreme the same as regular. I hadn't planned on filling up today but I was going to have to soon since I was down to a quarter of a tank. The thing is, since I drive an RX8, my car only takes supreme gas. This made me fill up and only pay $25 at the pump which is something I haven't done in awhile. Woohoo!!!! Thank you all you morons buying out all the other gas. FTW! I love paying $2.49 for supreme. I didn't mind being in late to work over that at all.

$2.49? Holy crap. We're around $3 here, have been for a long time.

Raleigh Gas Prices.com FTW 😛

As for the OP, seeing as how poor gas mileage the RX8 gets in the first place, I'm sure the attendent will be seeing you back soon 😛

Quote... don't worry, I still have a Toyota Corolla and a bicycle. I don't drive that RX8 as often as you think I might.

I was at the Chevron on the corner of Callaghan and 410 this morning buying my daily cup of joe. They said, they were out of gas except Supreme and were charging regular price for it like I said in my OP. I was DAMN happy over that.

nice.. i had to fill up anyway.. 2.48 at Sams club on DeZavala & I10. You get a .05 discount for being a member. Non-members can use it too(no discount).

right across the highway was a Shell station that had Regular for 2.69 - .13 more expensive.

yesterday i paid 2.99 for 91 octane and on my way to work this morning i passed the same gas station and it was up to 3.15

Nice, Premium is over $3/gallon here in SoCal. It has been since Katrina though.
soon to be $5/gal or so they are reporting

be nice if they didnt mention that on TV, when they heard it at work today everyone started to freak :/

Geezz...you spent around $30K for a RX8 and yet you're that excited over saving about $5 worth of gas ??

Hmmmm...Maybe I should skip eating lunch one day...save about $6-$10 and get really excited about it.

Dammit, this means wal-mart's going to be insanely crowded again. I hate that. I need to go grocery shopping tonight, too...and since they close the place at 10pm now, I'll be stuck in a huge line regardless. Joy.

There's a gas station about 30 feet away from the street I need to turn onto to get home. Yesterday traffic was backed up for two blocks from the sheep. I can't wait until today.

It's more then $5 when you consider supreme was at $3.10 or so at one point. With a 16 gallon tank... yah, it's closer to $10 then it is to $5. Who said I spent anywhere near 30K on my car? LOL!!! The MSRP on mine for a fully loaded and with every option including the DVD Navigation system is around $34K. I'm a deal shopper and spent no where NEAR that. Try around $20K after TTL 😛 I'm excited when I save unexpectantly.

OK so I was wrong...you saved $10
Damm I wish I can get that excited over $10.

Actually you saved closer to $5 than $10.
In your original post, you said you paid $2.49 for supreme and you put in $25 worth of gas.
So you put in 10 gallons.
Even with a different of $.60(most places I know is around $.30-$.40), you saved $6 according to what you post.

Another update from N. Tx......

I talked to a buddy, who works at the air force base fuels center, and he told me a story that I don't find too hard to believe.

One of the truck drivers that trucks jet fuel into the base told my buddy that he was scheduled to bring two loads (~8000 gallons per load) to one of the local truck stops this afternoon, from the local FINA facility. He had to cancel, tho, because FINA closed their diesel rack for any truck filling, and they'd have to go to OK City in order to fill up.

Doesn't that just smack of FINA holding off selling any more diesel fuel until the price goes up?? Can we say, "PRICE FIXING" boys & girls???

I say, "Get a rope!!" :|
