It seems that Mr. Scarborough's retelling of a Rahmbo story had him so riled up, the forgot to substitute the letter for the word and dropped a F-bomb on morning TV.

Now, their morning show gets to operate on a seven second delay.

Joe Scarborough, one of the harshest critics of so-called "filth" on television -- he has demanded the FCC levy massive fines against the networks that aired Janet Jackson's halftime Super Bowl show, and Bono's Golden Globes acceptance speech, among others -- let slip a juicy, unbleeped F-bomb during Monday's Morning Joe show (watch the NSFW clip, in all its sordid glory, below). Not to mention the fact that he was so wrapped up in the point he was making, he had no idea he'd let slip the most dastardly of the seven dirty words on air till several of his flustered guests clued him in.

MSNBC has taken action, instituting a so-called "early warning system" -- a seven-second delay -- with Tuesday's broadcast, so that's probably the last naughty word we'll hear out of Scarborough (though it remains to be seen whether or not he'll maintain his crusade against the FCC) . BUT -- and this is what gets me -- the network is only vetting this one show. According to MSNBC spokesman Jeremy Gaines, the delay will not affect any other programming on the network.

Edit: while I think that it is something that has completely run amok (censorship in the media), Old Joe seemed to be so upset by the Janet bewbie that we took letters directly to Washington complaining about it and has been a very outspoken advocate for tighter FCC penalties against those that mess up.

in his defense, if there can possibly be one, Janet's "malfunction" was a planned act, while he did in fact slip up.

as to the quote that 'fuck' is the 'most dastardly of the seven dirty words', I think 'wise and beautiful woman' beats it by a mile. But you have to be really fucking loopy to say wise and beautiful woman on live tv.

lol @ those who would try to compare joe's slip up to the malfunction or the bono speech, both of which were prepared and planned well in advance. That said, rules are rules. Now, if the FCC comes calling for some money, and Joe complains, then the tiny violin playing is justified.

Cable television is not subject to the same rules as standard television. They are a premium service that must be paid for, like HBO, Showtime, Etc.

Personally I can't understand why anyone is offended by any organization of letters.

Are we protecting the minors that wake up early in the morning to catch Morning Joe on MSNBC? I don't know anything about Joe's former protests, but I'm pretty sure that anyone who was paying attention to that show is cleared to hear the word "fuck"

I never understood the complete irrational fear of 'wise and beautiful woman' above all other words.

If you call a random woman that, you'll understand.

Morning Joe would be an excellent show if Scarborough left. Since about two weeks before the election (when he apparently realized the GOP was doomed) Scarborough has been on one cranky rant after another, generally along the lines of attacking the liberal media and what a great politician Palin is. The show is unwatchable when Scarborough goes on his five minute plus rants.

And, to quote Steve Earle, F*** the FCC.
