I recently had the opportunity to drive a Morgan Roadster, the one with the 3.7l Ford V6 (280bhp). I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was blown away. It was stupid fun! :D I don't believe I've ever had more fun driving, it was deceptively agile and quick. The owner had bought it from a dealer in NY and it was a lot more reasonable than I had imagined.

So, umm, I'm actually knocking around the idea of buying one. :sneaky: That crazy? Not? Thoughts from those who've driven them?

Oh, a pic of what I'm talking about.

Glad to see Morgan made the move to aluminum skinned cars...probably lighter and more durable than the wood they used to use.

Better than you'd think. It was like driving a very fast MX-5, only cooler and more lively. It was firm, but not anywhere near back-breaking.

Oh damn, forgot the price, ~$64K.

That's the same engine as the V6 Mustang, is it not? The numbers seem to indicate it would be.
Classy (and classic) looking car, though the price is too steep for me personally.

They've used aluminum skins for a long time. They are still using wood for the chassis.

One of my dream cars is the Morgan Aero Supersports (or Aero 8).

How much did that V6 model cost in USD?

Its a pretty car, but $64k buys you a lot of car. For me I'd go with an AC Cobra replica and take the other $30,000 and put it in the bank. If you're into roadsters, you owe yourself a test drive in one of the AC Cobra replicas. V8 in a small chassis is ridiculous fun I hear.

If your heart is set on a British roadster, then instead of going for the modern version that pretends why not go legit? You can pick up some real head turners for that kind of scratch. Austin Healey, Triumph, Sunbeam Tiger, heck for $64k that's scratching at the Jaguar E-Type price range.

That's true, but I like the 30s look with modern reliability and performance. The chick who owns it uses it as her DD, believe it or not, and she says it's been reliable and her Ford place handles the regular service.

It starts at around $60k and goes up with options, the full-on sports version with larger brakes, traction control, and firmer suspension goes for $68k. Oh, and you can have an intercooled SC mounted on it for 9 grand, giving you >450bhp. That's 440bhp /ton. o_O

I can afford it, and I've been looking for a neat weekend/track day car. This might not be a bad.

My uncle had a Morgan Plus 8 with the 190bhp Rover SD1 (Ex Buick derivative) V8 but it was tuned with a 'towing cam' and K&N setup to 215 bhp and some other stuff.

It was pretty scary fast for the type of car it was....
